saw this ep in full for the first time! some ppl have stated the obvious, so I'll add some stuff:

-Woody's REAL first name...HUCKLEBERRY? LOL!! im surprised no one else(that i saw) posted this

-the interesting shot when Sam said "We're closed." It was right outside the door looking in.

-I think it was a Good finale. sure, not as good as possible, but it ended the shoe great.

-Diane's return...if they didn't explain why Sam DIDN'T leave w/ her, it would be the stupidest thing on the show. But they DID explain it, saying how Cheers was Sam's one true love. Otherwise, her return was good

-Question...was the show just edited into 3 separate eps after the original airing? It seemed the teasers for pts. 2 and 3 were just edited out of the actual eps.(which wouldnt surprise me)

-Another question...what happened to the bar after the last ep? I think someone said that Sam explained it in an ep. of Frasier where he came back.

-didn't someone say awhile back, that sometime during this ep, they played the theme from the 200th anniversary ep(the longer one)? or was that from the b4 or after parts aired on NBC

-also...the last shot of Cheers as the show ended...very fitting. The ending credits done in white w/ no background was diffferent too. And they had a different ending credit theme too!!!! #$*(&# Nick at Nite had to voice over it-it was a nice piano only version.

Yes, the show originally ran for a little over 90 minutes (I think it was 97 minutes with commercials), and they had to edit it into three episodes for syndication -- definitely doesn't play like it was meant to be that way. According to the "Frasier" continuity, Sam is still in Boston running the bar.

I liked the closing theme, too.

They probably put the credits in white with no backround and the piano theme to show that it was over.

Since dumb N@N didn't finish parts 2 and 3 last night in the 10 o clock slot, I pulled out my old tape of the original broadcast. They did do the long theme on Jay Leno following the show, as they got the cast out to sing it in front of the real Cheers bar in Boston. The cast was notoriously drunk that night, constant spit balls and calling Kirstie Alley stupid every five minutes. They were nice enough to apologize to Leno weeks later and bring flowers to his show.

Did anyone else get, or even laugh, at Woody's "huckleberry" thing? We were sitting here squinting and looking at each other like "what??".

And in a cruel joke on Rebecca, Sam tells Frasier a year and a half later on his visit to Seattle, that the plumber she married patented some high tech device, got rich, and dumped her. Kind of insensitive on the writers parts.
