He was in eight episodes of Dennis the Menace and played Dennis' nemesis Johnny Brady so well. I was wondering the other day what happened to the actor. I looked up his IMDB page and he stopped acting in 1964. He appeared in a Twilight Zone episode and The Donna Reed Show, along with a bunch of other early 60s shows. Does anyone have any info on him?

GREGORY IRVIN, who portrayed "Johnny Brady" in the Screen
Gems television sitcom Dennis the Menace

I am also slightly curious about juvenile actor Gregory Irvin's whereabouts today.

Mr. Irvin's last role was, evidently, an uncredited one in the independent film Cactus in the Snow (1971), which starred Richard Thomas just prior to his being cast as "John-Boy Walton" in the CBS-TV series The Waltons. Before that, Irvin's last television role was in a 1966 Season Six episode ("Call Her Max") of the long-running TV sitcom My Three Sons.

Besides his most prominent role (as "Johnny Brady") in Screen Gems' Dennis the Menace television series, Mr. Irvin also portrayed a "Beaver Scout" (one of the "Beverly Hills Beaver Patrol" to who Jack Benny was an adult troop leader) in a few 1961 episodes of The Jack Benny Program filmed at Desilu Studios in Culver City, CA.

Additionally, Mr. Irvin portrayed "Mousie Myers," a military school cadet classmate of "David Barker's" in two episodes of The Donna Reed Show. The latter was portrayed by fellow juvie actor (sadly now deceased) Charles Herbert, a frequent guest of the "Stone" family in that series, which, like Dennis the Menace, had been filmed at the Columbia Pictures/Screen Gems Ranch in Burbank, CA.

I also noticed Mr. Irvin portrayed the character of "Ken," a friend of "Homer 'Packy' Lambert," (as portrayed by later Walt Disney alum Roger Mobley a.k.a. "Gallagher") in two episodes of the fondly remembered western adventure series Fury, which was filmed at the Corrigan Ranch in Simi Calley, CA and the Iverson Ranch in Chatsworth, Los Angeles, CA for Incorporated Television Company (ITC). In fact, Irvin appeared in the very last originally broadcast (on NBC-TV) episode of Fury titled "Packy's Dream," also distinguished as, supposedly, one of the few episodes of the series in which all the principal characters wore cowboy hats.

I may not have helped any about the present-day activities of actor Gregory Irvin. But this post should at least serve as a nice synthesis of some of the highlights for that young actor who portrayed the arch-nemesis of Jay North's "Dennis Mitchell" in Screen Gems' Dennis the Menace series.

And memorable though Mr. Irvin may be for his portrayal of the snottily braggart brat "Johnny Brady" in the Dennis the Menace TV series, even worse was the character of his despicable father (alternately known as "Charles Brady," "Charlie Brady" and "Jack Brady"), as marvelously portrayed by Lawrence "Larry" Haddon, who would have a very prolific career as a TV character actor. At least with a younger offspring there may be still be some hope for redemption with maturity (even though, in the junior "Brady's" case, one could clearly hear and see the apple didn't fall very far from the proverbial family tree). But the senior "Brady" was an absolutely irredeemable adult brat, a boastful and narcissistic man who insulted both "Henry Mitchell" (portrayed by the unforgettable bespectacled Herbert Anderson) and young "Dennis" at every opportunity.

Gregory M. Irvin is alive and well. He contacted me a few months ago after viewing this thread. He said:

"I am still alive and the birth date and location of my birth are wrong on your information! I don't care that the info is wrong, because it lessens the
the odds of Identity misuse!"

He must be talking about his IMDB entry. I'm not sure if he corrected the information.

Maybe if he visits this thread again he can provide an update.
