View Full Version : Rose (Betty White) thriving into 2012!! GoldenG 11-02-2011, 09:14 PM E. Getty (Sophia) in 2008, B. Arthur (Dorothy) in 2009, R. McClanahan (Blanche) in 2010; Seems dear Betty White (Rose) broke the trend!! JR1 11-07-2011, 07:25 PM she has no known major health problems (at least that she's talked about), and she keeps on keepin' on. jehobden 11-07-2011, 07:39 PM Lord willing, she'll be 90 on January 17. I hope there's a big celebration for her. There likely will be. McGillicuddy 11-07-2011, 07:44 PM Lord willing, she'll be 90 on January 17. I hope there's a big celebration for her. There likely will be. :yeah that: GoldenG 11-08-2011, 12:44 AM it will be a great celebration indeed! CHEESECAKE! Schmoopie 11-10-2011, 01:47 AM Wow... intersting thread although kind of sad to think of Betty White being gone. I certainly hope she's around for a long time and it's so nice to see her making a 'comeback' as it were. Seems like she's working more now than she was just a few years ago! But maybe that's just my take on it. By the way, I have a feeling she'll make it well past 2011. After all, I have a great aunt who is 101 now (her birthday was in March) and my grandad died in 2009 when he was 99. I also had a great, great uncle who lived to be 104. Just sayin... GoldenG 11-10-2011, 02:11 PM So thankful for encouraging posts. I realized the "trend" of the other girls' passing... I was saddened and somewhat worried about it. But, there is nothing to worry about and again am thankful for the positive outlooks posted! I still watch the Golden Girls practically everyday and am comforted that Betty is still living it up in life!!! mystery_daisy 11-11-2011, 12:57 AM She has amazing energy, what a career too! I dunno. It kind of bugs me when people always talk about someone dying once they reach say 60. If they live to 90 then people spend 1/3 of the person's life contemplating death. But yah 90 is a ripe old age, for sure. :) May Betty live beyond 150! No problem overshooting a little huh. 80sTrivia 11-11-2011, 08:37 PM I'm sure Betty will have a big party for her 90th birthday!!! crookshanks 11-15-2011, 03:31 PM God I hope not. She is a wonderful person. May she live many more years McGillicuddy 11-15-2011, 08:28 PM Wow... intersting thread although kind of sad to think of Betty White being gone. Yeah, This is kind of a downer thread. In 6 weeks Betty will have broken the trend of losing our Golden Girls, one each year. And her 90th B-day is in January!!! I hope they'll be some sort of celebration aired on TV. lucyandethel 11-16-2011, 12:15 AM This is a bizarre, unsettling post........ Schmoopie 11-16-2011, 02:29 AM This is a bizarre, unsettling post........ I agree, and I was a little taken aback when I read it but I certainly hope that Betty lives a much longer life. She looks healthy and active and I think I mentioned this before but it seems that in just the last few years she's made one heck of a 'comeback'! comedyfreak 11-16-2011, 09:30 AM Cheers to Betty White, Hollywood should give her a big party. I wish they would put all her game show appearances on dvd. HuntingtonM15 11-16-2011, 05:42 PM This is a bizarre, unsettling post........ I agree. It's extremely bizarre and morbid. Dianne3 11-18-2011, 04:39 PM "What happens where there is only one of us left"? Anyone remember that line that Rose said? Ironic, isn't it? ShamelessFanGirl 11-22-2011, 03:10 PM It was eerie how all the Golden Girls except Betty all passed away within a year apart of each other. I am so glad that it didn't happen to Betty too, I hope she sticks around at least for another ten years. Mr. Television 11-22-2011, 04:57 PM Cheers to Betty White, Hollywood should give her a big party. I wish they would put all her game show appearances on dvd. NBC is going to air her 90th birthday celebration in January. Schmoopie 11-23-2011, 12:44 AM NBC is going to air her 90th birthday celebration in January. That's awesome! Can't wait to see it! McGillicuddy 01-20-2012, 07:25 PM By the way----We don't have to worry about this anymore! Betty broke the "Golden Girls" curse on January 1st!. McGillicuddy 01-20-2012, 07:29 PM That's awesome! Can't wait to see it! I loved Betty's 90th Birthday special with castmembers of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Carol Burnett Show and Hot In Cleveland, but it was so sad there was no other "Golden Girl" there. I really missed them, especially Rue! :( GoldenG 01-20-2012, 07:34 PM Yippee! I enjoyed every moment of her birthday celebration. I sang along "Thank you for being a friend" after her speech while crying happy tears. Bet they served a mouth-watering cheesecake during the party! Wildchats 01-27-2013, 10:16 PM Sadly, she's one of the last dozen or so of those great actors we all loved in the 1970s-1980s and into 1990s that was "grandparent-like" in those years. It's sad that between 2010-2020, many of who are still left of the great actors of that time period who were grandparent-like will be gone. For example, George Gaynes who played Henry on Punky Brewster is around 96 now. No way he will live past 2015/2016, if he does, he'll be over 100 I think. Very few will live past 2020 who are left. But Betty is still going strong at age 91, acting, and seems to be doing great! It trully would be amazing if Betty and some of the last celebs that are almost 100, that they live to 110 or so, but it's highly unlikely. Most celebs pass on around age 90-99 who live the longest. ShamelessFanGirl 02-06-2013, 11:46 AM I really enjoyed the special as well! I think that would have been awesome to see what Estelle, Bea and Rue would have said in regards to her birthday! 80sTrivia 07-22-2013, 05:28 AM It truly is incredible how much Betty continues to work and she is showing no signs of slowing down!!! :) bandonurse 12-14-2016, 05:31 PM It's now December, 2016. Betty will turn 95 years old next month. I just saw her interviewed last week. She made the comment "At 94 you just don't expect to be this healthy." That made me SO happy! Apparently she's not experiencing any serious health issues or she wouldn't have said that. Her voice is sounding raspier and raspier as time goes on, but I'll take my Betty any way I can get her. Happy 95th birthday on January 17th, Betty. We love you! :birthday: |
