I always thought the MLB Playoffs had a different theme unless FOX is just being lazy

View Full Version : Why does FOX have the same musical theme for baseball that they use for the NFL? TVFactFan 10-28-2011, 09:26 PM They use to...they are just being lazy now. Yeah the **** sounds crazy. CBS had different themes when they aired baseball and football in the early 90's. Remember the baseball theme below? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95kTST5KtLw TVFactFan 10-28-2011, 09:28 PM Brian you were right, Fox used to have a different theme for baseball http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr9zUpaWpYE&feature=related Brian Damage 10-28-2011, 09:52 PM I think FOX has made this music the UNIVERSAL music for all sports on the network. TVFactFan 10-28-2011, 10:03 PM I think FOX has made this music the UNIVERSAL music for all sports on the network. I only think of football when I hear it, especially since it's been for 17 years born2late 10-28-2011, 10:11 PM I noticed that too. Every time I hear it, I think of football. mets82 10-29-2011, 11:07 AM I dont know why they changed it. I thought MLB ON FOX theme was very good. They should have left well enough alone. TMC 11-17-2011, 06:31 PM http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2010/10/26/fox-goes-to-musical-bullpen-for-mlb-playoffs/ If you were confused at the end of innings during National League Championship Series telecasts on FOX last week, thinking that you heard the network's football theme music rather than its baseball jingle, you were correct. The network quietly swapped out its baseball theme, which includes a quick reference to its football theme, for the tune that has accompanied its NFL coverage since the sports division opened for business in 1994. Eric Shanks (http://awfulannouncing.com/2010-articles/december/eric-shanks-is-an-idiotits-called-a-focus-group.html), the new FOX Sports President, said during a Monday conference call, that the music the network had used for baseball postseason coverage the last 10 years had been slower, perhaps more "cathedral" and that FOX wanted to perk things up. "When we were taking a look at recent tapes, we decided that baseball deserves a faster pace and more upbeat music," Shanks said. "There's no better music than the FOX Sports theme for the NFL." Shanks said viewers should count on hearing what we've come to know as the FOX NFL theme across all the network's sports telecasts going forward, including NASCAR. "It's becoming a real FOX Sports theme," Shanks said. "And it gives all of our sports sort of that marquee feel and it gives us a more upbeat way to come on the air." Tweety 11-19-2011, 01:28 PM I'm hoping FOX outbids NBC for the Wimbledon finals one day, and uses the same theme for covering that. Their theme song beats that stupid, British-sounding crap that NBC plays for their Wimbledon coverage. Neither NBC or Fox isn't going to cover the Wimbledon tournament anytime soon since ESPN outbid NBC for the TV rights beginning next year: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Bring-back-the-MLB-on-Fox-theme-music/169726539705358 MrCleveland 11-24-2011, 01:17 AM What next...NASCAR using the same theme? |
