I notice that episode number 435 was called "The Game Room" which turned out to be the final episode in the 14 year series run. Apparently at the time that episode was produced in early 1966, Ozzie must not have known that this was the end for the series or he probably would have written a special farewell episode. I could see him bringing back a host of people from previous episodes or at the very least showing highlights from previous shows. Does anyone know when Ozzie received the word that the show would not be back for the 1966-67 tv season?

Ozzie later said that he got the phone call from Tom Moore of ABC in March 1966, but Dave and Rick both said in interviews (also years later) that they pretty much knew during the last season of filming (which finished, oddly, on New Year's Day 1966) that the show wouldn't be coming back. If I'm remembering right, Dave talks about this in his commentary on one of the episodes in the first Shout! Factory set.

Thanks for the information. I guess the Nelson's did not celebrate too late on New Year's Eve 1965. LOL.
