On another rerun from 1987, Sophia said “For eighty -- one years, I’ve been eating fish on Friday !” . I realize those remarks were written by a writer who probably didn’t work the figures out on a pocket calculator . Can anybody verify the information I mentioned about Sophia’s age ? By the same token, can anybody pin down the year Sophia was born ?

According to her character profile on IMDB.com Sophia Petrillo was born in April 1906.

When the series was first on, I always figured she was born right around 1904. It's difficult as heck to pin down the characters' ages, although you can pin Dorothy close to 1928. If she and Stan had been divorced after 38 years of marriage in either 1984 or 1985, you can guess she graduated from high school in 1946 because she was pregnant when she graduated (correct?).
In an early episode, Rose says she's 55, so you could surmise from that she was born in 1930 (something I don't think is challenged much after that).
As far as Blanche, that of course was a running joke. I'd always guessed around 1935 for her without much to base it on.
