Apple launched the iPod back on October 23, 2001 and it's now one of the most widely used products ever created.
The music industry was changing back in the early 2000s. Pirated music was becoming more mainstream and not just a hobby for tech nerds. The creation of the MP3 player made storing digital music easier and made it very easy to pass along.
Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, wanted to create Apple's version of the MP3 player and thus the iPod was born.
The very first iPod could store up to 5GB with a 10GB model released shortly after.
Fastforward to the present day, the 4th model of the iPod Touch was released in Oct. 2011 and could go up to 64GB. It also functions as a camera and is capable of playing HD media.
