Things in the series episode you didn't think would happen:For instance:In the episode "Hustling the Hustler",Buddy's black sheep pool shark brother,who played pool with Rob,won,demanded his $300,then tearing up the check Rob gave him,proving to Buddy and Laura and Rob that he was a changed man.The ending was also good.And in the episode "Coast to Coast Big Mouth",Laura (with no help from Rob)going up to an angry (he let her have it,yes,he did,but did respect what she did)Alan Brady's office to confess what she did.As he said,much calmer "Well,it was bound to come out(about him being bald)anyway.",before shooing Rob and Laura out of his office.Know of any other episodes with unexpected endings?

In second season's very good "I Was a Teenage Head Writer"directed by Jerry Paris,the ending(which I presume TVLand cut out this time around-did they?)in which Mel ,wordlessly,waits on Buddy,hand and foot,is a classic,very funny scene.which was totally unexpected.

TV Land DID cut that part out .Still ANOTHER great,unexpected moment is at the end of last season's 1966 episode "Dear Sally Rogers",in which Herman Glimpshire shows his undying love for Sally on a late night talk show in which both are guests,by putting his arm around her,and kissing her.When TVLand airs that eoisode,they will probably cut that scene out.Thank heavens for the DVD's.

For me, the classic "unexpected moment" episode is "The Impractical Joke," where Rob is the victim of Buddy's friend's (Lenny Weinrib's) telephone joke, and then Rob makes Buddy sweat it out as to whether he's going to get him back or not. The IRS agent who came to the office to address something about Buddy's taxes turned out to be Buddy's friend's partner who 'got' Buddy while he wasn't expecting it !

I believe the laugh that the scene got (where Buddy's friend revealed himself as being behind the IRS agent visit) was the longest of any episode ! :lol:

My vote for the most unexpected moment was when Rob thought they brought the wrong baby home from the hospital. Rob's look of surprise when he opened the door was priceless! It never occurred to him that the Petersons might be black.
