View Full Version : Who Thinks Frasier & Roz Should Have Ended Up Together?
Brian Damage 10-22-2011, 10:02 PM I am a little mixed on this one. I mean the two were great friends, but I liked her character a lot so Frasier could finally have a normal & stable love life.
What are your thoughts?

born2late 10-22-2011, 10:16 PM I think Roz was too "earthy" for Frasier. I don't think she would be able to put up with his highbrow ways for very long. But who knows, Frasier's parents were an odd match also. What would be funny is if they did hook up, and Roz gave birth to a baby that was like Frasier. That would probably drive Roz over the edge. I think she needs someone like Roger though, IMO.

Hmmm, they did sleep together. I wasn't a fan of anybody that Roz dated. lol
born2late 10-22-2011, 11:49 PM Yep, and Bulldog. What was she thinking? I liked Roger because he seemed to really care about her. But I don't think Roz was meant to settle on one person, her man troubles was too much a part of her character. I wanted to shake her when she was with Bulldog.

I think she would clop you over the head for referring to her as being "with" Bulldog-- as implying in a relationship. Love that about Roz. I liked Roger for her too, mostly because that's who she seemed to like the best. But I agree with you in that the thing about Roz is that she didn't seem to care one way or the other whether she got married or not, did she? She liked men and she liked relationships, but I can't recall ever hearing her lament about not having found true love or not being married-- as Frasier often did. She really did seem to be happily single. So for that reason, I'm not sure she'd have been the right match for Frasier. I adore their friendship though.
Retro4Life 10-23-2011, 10:19 PM I always wanted them to get together in the final episode. I agree a romance during the show would have deflated tension, but I think they really did love each other and would have been a great couple, despite their obvious differences.
Family Ties Forever! 10-24-2011, 01:43 AM I think Roz and Frasier should have gotten together as a couple. I think there was a sweetness there. Yes, they had different personalities, but they had a great friendship. I agree it would have been nice to see them get together in the final episode. I thought it was sad in the last episode when Roz asked Frasier "what will I ever do without you?" Also in the episode where Roz sleeps with Frasier's former professor Frasier wonders why Roz was interested in all the other men and not him. It appeared as though perhaps Roz was jealous [even though she denied it[/I] over Julia and Frasier. There is an episode where Roz starts to date a French guy and Frasier remarks that Roz must have dated all the American men and that she was only left with men in other countries, lol.

Yeah, I think you took the words right out of my mouth there. To me, Roz always seemed to have a better connection w/ Bulldog than Frasier. I think Frasier was always looking for someone to settle down with. And Roz really wasn't. I know she kind of gave up some of her "wildness" when Alice came along, but I don't really see her being the traditional wife and mother type.
And, yeah, Roz and Frasier did have a good friendship going. But I don't think what they had was enough to sustain a real romantic relationship. And it's not worth risking a friendship like that just to find out it won't work.
Leigh Ann 10-24-2011, 09:04 AM I liked Roz & Frasier as friends. I'm not sure if it would've worked if they got together. They did sleep together, and all, and they have the chemistry, but I think they would've been better off with other people, romantically. They would always stay friends no matter what though, I'm sure. And I think they didn't really want to get into an office relationship with each other, because it would've been weird to still be working together if it didn't work out.
Schmoopie 10-25-2011, 04:53 AM I've thought about this before and I think they're better off being friends; close friends. After all they worked very closely together and that would have definitely caused some friction in their relationship had they decided to pursue romance. But as for my personal preference for Roz, I am all about Roz and Bulldog. IMO, those two are perfect for each other!

I agree, I don't think she and Frasier could have settled down together. He was always making funny comments about her being easy. They were good friends and aside from one little tryst, I think good friends was all they could ever be. Bulldog was a pig, IMO, towards women, and I don't see Roz putting up with it for very long. She was a strong woman. Maybe that's why they had a short fling that never developed. I'm not sure I can see Bulldog settling down with a strong minded woman, not without changing his ways. After, he used Roz as a shield in Bad Dog.

That's funny that you say that, because I sort of thought that too. I noticed it the most in that episode where Bulldog seemed to have fallen in love with Roz. I felt bad when she let him down easy and made him leave, because he was showing a sweeter side of himself that we hadn't seen before, and it was Roz bringing that out in him. I almost wish she would have given him a chance... she might have been just what he needed. Although I don't think I would have given him a chance... but I'm not Roz. I wouldn't have slept with him either.

I see your point. In that scene that I mentioned above, I sometimes wonder if maybe the writers had tossed around the idea of getting Roz and Bulldog together and having Roz affect him in really positive ways, even having Bulldog complimenting Roz's personality in unexpected ways... maybe giving them a really nice relationship... but then decided they already had that happening with Niles and Daphne and decided to let the idea go. I could see the writers thinking that storyline could take some of the focus and fire off of the Niles and Daphne developing relationship, which they wouldn't want to do because that was a huge part of the popularity of the show. That's just speculation, but I wonder why else we got that episode since it never really went anywhere. It didn't even give them a better friendship...
Goldilocks 10-29-2011, 08:43 AM I'm glad they didn't end up together as a couple. I was moritified when they had their one night stand. Ewwww! They were always more like brother and sister and she knew how to keep him humble.
I love the story about how Lisa Kudrow was initially hired to play Roz but the directors/producers decided to go with Peri Gilpin at the last minute. They felt she embodied the earthiness and assertiveness needed to keep Frasier grounded.
Of course Lisa Kudrow was cast as Pheobe in Friends soon thereafter.
MasterEdward 11-02-2011, 01:53 AM No I don't think Frasier and Roz should've gotten together they were just too different and it wouldn't have worked. They had a great friendship and that's the way it should've been. I think it showed that a man and a woman can be good friends without the sex. I like that.
