With Andy, you feel the pity without the humor, says Alan Sepinwall. "I'm starting to think that the biggest problem with Andy as the branch manager isn't how much he's like Michael," he says, "but the most significant way he's not like him: where giving Michael Scott power made him a funnier character than he would have been were he just another salesman, Andy has somehow become less funny since the promotion." PLUS: Andy's backstory wasn't interesting.

i think Andys character was compromised due to the promotion - he cant be the same funny he was before, its almost impossible! he was funnier before the carell-less office - in my humble op

I am a minority of Office fans, but I am enjoying this season without Steve Carrell. I always thought that this show worked well as an ensamble and frankly Michael Scott to me was an annoying main character.
Now the series is more of an ensamble show, with each player getting more time than what Carrell would have gotten. Ed Helms is great as the office manager and I like James Spader's character also.
According to Paul Liberstien (the guy who plays Toby) states that The Office was hopefully going to evolve over time, with new players taking the place of others who leave and keep the formula going.

Well everyone doesn't feel that way since it was reported in TV Guide that the show's ratings have not been impressive this season at all LOL

I think Andy is very funny. I don't feel like the show runs as well without Michael. It's like SO without Solomon, lol.
