Improved with age,or got worse with age?I'd say, except for the last 2 so-so seasons,it improved, and hit its peak in the third season. After season 3(1968-1969),it went downhill gradually. And a question:Why did it move to Saturday Night in 1969-1970,and Tuesday Night in 1970-1971?I think it been just as successful if the show had stayed on Wednesday Nights. What do the rest of you think ?

Other than a few episodes where they used the show as a springboard for "pilot" episodes for new series, this show was great from beginning to end. It definitely got stronger as it went along the first few years, but in my opinion never went downhill.

That's how I feel. All the seasons are great but I think every successive season was stronger, up until the fourth year. The fourth season seemed to me to be the most developed and refined year. The next two years only suffered a slight drop in energy level IMO but never dropped in quality one bit. The writing was still at season 4 level and there were plenty of memorable episodes those years.
