View Full Version : A little help please?
bingbangbaby 10-21-2011, 07:55 PM This is driving me absolutely nuts... I hope someone here can help me out. Does anyone know what these two pictures are from? I don't recognize them at all. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

The top one is where Niles is dropping Daphne and her mother off at the airport... Season 9: The Guilt Trippers
The bottom one, I think is when Daphne is having trouble trusting Niles' patient who has a crush on him.
Season 9: The First Temptation on Daphne
I was right about The Guilt Trippers
And the other is The First Temptation of Daphne
born2late 10-21-2011, 09:44 PM Wow Pat, you sure know your Frasier. :notworthy
bingbangbaby 10-22-2011, 02:41 AM Hey, thanks! :) I don't have that season of dvds and those are two episodes that have somehow repeatedly evaded my syndicated viewing over time, and so I haven't seen either of those in quite awhile. I just couldn't place those scenes at all. Much appreciated!
**And if you ever need scene identification for my other favorite couple, Tony and Angela (Who's the Boss?) I'm your girl. :) I can tell the season, the episode and the exact scene from just a tiny piece of a picture for that show.

Thank you so much. A little obsessed with the show - guilty, but I wanted to thank you all as well. You keep me revved about my favorite show by coming here to read your posts and talk about the show.
You all ROCK!

You are very welcome, my friend. I'm glad I could help so quickly.
I was thinking that there are so few episodes where we see Niles' bedroom. The only other one I can think of is when Daphne is tossing and turning in her sleep, knocking Niles around and even off the bed.
And thanks for the "Who's the Boss" offer.
My shows are:
Happy Days
Burn Notice
How I Met Your Mother
Starsky and Hutch
Chuck
But this is the only message board I visit. (Occasionally visit the Happy Days) - as you might be able to tell from my avitar.

Of course, "his bedroom" doesn't account for the Maris Counselor when Niles slips into his and Maris' bed in the dark to find out he's in bed with their marriage counselor.

There's so much about this show that's so darn funny. The very different father with his beer and ugly, duct taped chair. Gil having a wife. "Psychic" Daphne and her weird family. Descriptions of Maris. Also, I love the guest callers, and the scenes in Cafe Nervosa. They showed one of my favorite Cafe Nervosa episodes the other night, My Coffee With Niles. I love how he drives the waitress crazy reordering his latte.

LOVE that ep. Great title. I like how it's all shot at Cafe Nervosa. I used an image from that episode for my yahoo group for years...
born2late 10-22-2011, 03:37 PM I love that it is all at Cafe Nervosa too. I don't have any Frasier dvds, so I just ordered season 1. :) I want all of them.

If you can afford it, you could find all 11 seasons on eBay for about $120. Roughly about $10 a season.
born2late 10-23-2011, 12:09 AM That's a great deal. :)

Meeeee too. Obsessed. I literally have to tear myself away-- and some of these episodes I've seen many, many times. It's okay though. There are worse things we could be obsessed with. :)
You keep me revved about my favorite show by coming here to read your posts and talk about the show.
That's nice to hear because I was really trying to hold back. I have a tendency to write in detail and post a lot if I don't try to hold back a little-- But I'll discuss anything anytime. :)

My Coffee with Niles is one of many of my favs too. The thing about this show is that there's an inordinate amount of exceptionally good episodes. Most shows don't have that kind of consistent top-notch writing talent, and then add to that one of the best casts in TV... I mean really, all five of the main characters were strong not only in acting ability and physical comedy but in their chemistry interacting with each other. The whole thing was just lightning in a bottle.
Schmoopie 11-15-2011, 08:26 AM I love those pictures you posted, Pat and I love both of those episodes. Although I have to admit that I didn't really like the idea of Daphne being so quick to follow Roz's advice in "Temptation" and going to visit Heather Murphy. I mean, I LOVED how Niles reassured her that there would never be another woman, but after all they went through to be together I just can't imagine Daphne doubting him. That's one of the things I don't like about Roz is that she's kind of a bad influence at times.
BTW, that scene of "Guilt Trippers" where he's dropping her off at the airport... that REALLY is Sea-Tac airport. I've never seen a show go to that much trouble to simulate the real airport on screen like that, but I've been there plenty of times and could not believe how they made it look like they were really at the airport.
Just had to mention that! So now every time I go to the airport I think of that scene!

I've thought about that too... (sorry... here I go again with my Frasier-obsessed two cents   )
I think her actions there come from a couple of different places. First, if you think about it, Niles, Frasier, Martin, and us (the audience) are the only ones who truly know everything about how strongly Niles felt about her and everything that he did in those unrequited years. And while she was there for most of it, she was unaware of it at the time and can only know what he's filled in for her-- for instance, the whole "Daphyllis" deal from First Date or that he was talking about her in that bar in Mixed Doubles to name a couple of obvious ones. And while we know he's filled her in on a lot more of it (hence the weight problem), there are so many more small things he did that showed us his commitment to her that she'll never know about. So, while she can feel his love now and see it pretty clearly from what she does know, she's missing a lot of that complete, big picture that we and those other characters saw for all those years. Roz is the same way... she only became aware of Niles's feelings for Daphne a little while before Daphne herself became aware of it.
Secondly, it's pretty clear that she's missing some pieces when she says she was "somebody else," because we all know she was never "somebody else," but that she was always the only one. That's why Niles wonders why she would think there could be someone else too, and I love that moment in that scene when we see him come to the realization that she did what she did because she doesn't have all those pieces.
Combine that with the fact that she and Roz were pretty good friends by then, and I can see why she did what she did... and why she felt so ashamed by it after. It's kind of sad that she'll never know a lot of that stuff that we saw all those years, but if you think about it, it's kind of brilliant too on the writers' part that they recognized that she would still be catching up.
As an aside, there's one other scene that I think stems from Daphne not having that big picture that we have too, and it's from Moons Over Seattle, when he's trying to apologize to her after her parents have that knock-down, screaming fight at the restaurant:

She says she doesn't want to talk about it right then and you can see she's a little mad at him and possibly thinking his actions have made the situation worse. But then she talks with her dad and comes to that realization that sends her to his door, and she makes that great speech about why she wants to marry him right then. I really love that scene with her dad because it's like right then his words helped her catch another little piece of that big picture that we've known all this time.

What a well-thought-out post, badabingbaby! Yeah, I don't think Niles realized just how in the dark Daphne was for all those years. And to him, it was like, "How can you not know?" But I'm sure Daphne was thinking back over those years, too, and wondering what signs she missed and such. And if she missed those signs, she might also miss signs now that there was "someone else." And it also didn't help that Daphne never felt like she was good enough for him. But I think he felt like didn't deserve her, either!
Schmoopie 11-16-2011, 03:44 AM What great posts, bingbangbaby and Kristen! Never thought about the fact that Daphne doesn't really know how much Niles was infatuated with her, but I like to think that someone told her along the way (like Frasier, Martin or Roz)! Wonder what she would think?
bingbangbaby 02-02-2012, 10:47 PM Anybody know where these are from?
That's the closing scene to Season 3's (Disc 2) It's Hard To Say Goodbye If You Won't Leave.

OMG, that is so adorable! I'm going to have to watch that episode again, ASAP. I must be psychic myself, because I often end my Frasier stories with Niles and Daphne snuggled next to each other on the couch. Sigh....
BTW, this is my favorite scene from Guilt Trippers.... Makes me melt every time I see it!

bingbangbaby 02-08-2012, 11:22 AM Thanks Pat!! :yourock: I thought it was season 3 originally because I thought that's what it looked like by the hairstyles, but I searched all through season 3 and couldn't find it so I figured it must be some other season and decided to ask. I didn't think it would be a tag scene though, so I didn't look that closely at those. Thanks for the help!

I love that one too. But I love almost every scene-- no, pretty much every scene-- that has the two of them in it. They have such a strong chemistry, it's enjoyable to see them share the screen anytime, even before they were a couple on the show. Sometimes they're just standing near each other and it's like there's electricity flowing between them that draws your eyes to them even though they don't have the lines in the scene. With that kind of chemistry, scenes like the ones in your picture there are especially high voltage. :D
You are most welcome.
