View Full Version : Do You Like Humor Cards?
Family Ties Forever! 10-21-2011, 03:24 AM What do you think of humor cards? I think it depends on what the card is for, what kind of humor it is and who it is for.
My sister Becky got a card for her birthday yesterday [we share a birthday] and a bracelet in the mail from my brother. She was upset over the card. She told me she took the card as an insult. I haven't seen the card, but she told me that it said, "To my cold sister." I asked her what that meant. She said that there was a penguin on it. I don't know what it said on the inside. I tried to nicely explain to her that it was meant as a joke. She said that she knew that, but she took it as an insult. My brother doesn't know that she took it that way.
Brad Russ 10-21-2011, 04:40 AM They're okay. i use to love them, but not so big on them anymore. i always got some woman in a bikini saying weird stuff, and liked them, but now they kind of annoy me. Just don't find most of them funny. My ex owns an adult store, and i really hate those kinds of cards, but never told her cause i didn't want to hurt her feelings.
My mom likes to give mushier cards, but the rest of us tend to give funny ones. In fact when my grandma was alive my uncle would always give her a funny birthday card and one year my aunt picked it out and got a mushy one instead. My grandma looked forward to her funny card and was disappointed not to get it. My uncle ended up buying her a second, funny card.
robyrob 10-21-2011, 08:46 AM i don't like mushy cards, you can still express real sentiment with your own words on the inside and that will mean a lot more, plus if you can give someone a chuckle, or at least pick a card that you feel will be appreciated by that person I think it means more.

Marvo301 10-21-2011, 12:33 PM I think it's important to think about the person you are giving the card to when you pick it out. If you think about the person you are giving the card to you will probably know if they would appreciate a humorous card or prefer something more sentimental.
MrCleveland 10-21-2011, 12:51 PM In a way...yes.
I also like giving-out cards with cartoon characters such as Bugs Bunny or Garfield on them.

"I'm sorry your iguana died but he tasted like chicken"

I agree with you Marvo. Your sister should tell your brother, nicely, that she doesn't like that type of cards.
Janice 10-21-2011, 09:23 PM What I often do is give two cards, one sentimental and the other humorous. I love funny cards. I'm still laughing over the Christmas card Jenny gave me last Christmas, lol. It was a group of cats dressed up and singing Deck The Halls. One cat has a hairball and keeps coughing the entire song. Funniest card ever.
pheromore 10-21-2011, 09:29 PM I so love humor cards!

That card is so funny. :) I remember when I was in the store. I came across it and thought it was hilarious. I'm sure the people around me were wondering what was so funny.
Yooch 10-21-2011, 11:37 PM I like to receive both humor cards and serious cards. When the humor card is sent by someone I know well and I know his/her personality I love the humor card. I rarely send out humor cards because I do not want to offend someone who is sensitive and might take it the wrong way.
