I USED TO LOVE THE SITCOMS OF THE 1970'S AND SOME OF THEM DURING THE 1980'S (THIS GOES FOR TELEVISION SHOWS OF ALL GENRES, BY THE WAY).

THE QUALITY AND "INTERESTING" QUOTIENT OF SITCOMS HAS EXPONENTIALLY DECLINED. CURRENT SHOWS AND MOST ALL THE SHOWS FROM THE 1990'S REALLY SUCK.

I THINK PART OF THIS IS THE RESULT OF CONFUSION ABOUT WHICH DIRECTION OUR SOCIETY IS GOING FOR.

WE NEED SOME FRESH (OR MAYBE "OLD") NEW CONCEPTS IN TELEVISION; THESE ARE NOT THE GLORY DAYS OF THE CUTE, WHIMSICAL, AND FUN 1970'S, I AM SAD TO SAY...

ANYONE AGREE WITH ME.

THE ONLY SITCOMS I WATCH ANYMORE ARE RE-RUNS OF THE GOOD SHOWS OF THE 1970S AND EARLY 1980S....

THE "REALITY" TV CONCEPTS MAY BE A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, BUT THIS MAY TURN OUT TO BE MERELY A PASSING FAD...

When it comes to watching sitcoms, I prefer the classic ones. Most of the ones from the 1990s and today I do not watch, although I was born in July 1981 http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

My favorite WKRP
charcter is Andy Travis.

I agree. Sitcoms have changed over the years, maily because not all of the shows are sitcoms. We have been introduced to series like Survivor and The Mole. Not everything is sitcoms anymore like it used to be. We keep getting these lousy sitcoms, featuring big stars, and they can be cute, but they can't keep up with these so called "reality" shows. Plus, the humor from the past is pretty outdated, and we see that humor has matured over the years. I mean, you never, ever see children in sitcoms anymore.

I think this reality TV concept sucks!! If I wanted to see real life I'd go out and live!! I watch TV for things I can't get in my own life!! In the 80's The characters were well created and people could relate to them and sympathize with them!! the 90's man i can't relate to any of the sitcoms!! Most characters aern't that well written and that's why they come and go so quickly!! just my opinion if u agree or disagree e-mail me!

Well, I agree about the quality. I guess the NBC sitcoms aren't doing as well, but that's due to some stupidity on their part. On the contrary, ABC looks to be improving back to it's hay-day in the 70's. Unfortunately, shows like Jesse and Stark Raving Mad were cancelled while in the top 20, and their spots have been filled by shows that haven't done nearly as well. The relaity tv is horrible. Those game shows are really stupid. At least Millionare has dropped and average of 4.2 points for its highest rated show in a year. Survivor 2 hurt the ratings of Friends, but Friends has remained intact. However, NBC added many stupid and moronic sitcoms. However, in my opinion, there are some sitcoms still left that are decent. Here they are:
Frasier-NBC
Friends(quality went down this year)-NBC
Everybody Loves Raymond-CBS
King of Queens-CBS
Becker-CBS
Yes, Dear??? the 8:30 CBS show on Monday
Drew Carey-ABC
Spin City-ABC
Dharma and Greg-ABC
Will and Grace-NBC
Just Shoot Me-NBC

There were a lot less sitcoms this year than last year, and a lot less good ones. This has been happening every year since at least 1998, and probably a long time before. I miss shows like Mary Tyler Moore. Oh,well. At least the quality shows are split between the 3 networks pretty evenly. I do think NBC made many stupid decisions in the spring of 2000.

A show that I kind of like is Freaks & Geeks. I think the only reason I like it is because it's in an 80's perspective.
