#1: 'Gilligan's Island'
The supposed three-hour tour lasted three seasons on CBS, but the catchy theme song has a place of honor forever as AOL TV readers' #1 pick.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started at this tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailing man,
The skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

Well if your judging a theme song by how well it describes the program the G.I. theme is definitely one of the best! (in fact all of Sherwood Schwartz' TV shows had themes that explained exactly what the show is about. i.e. It's About Time, The Brady Bunch) It also had a catchy tune that viewers could sing along with and introduced all the regular characters. Definitely a theme song that accomplishes what a theme song is supposed to!

I agree with Marvo. I think they were so catchy. I also think theat GI was probably the best sitcom of all time. Too bad it didn't last beyond 3 seasons.

There are many great themes, but I can't think of a better one.

The dramatic middle bit, where-

the weather started getting rough
the tiny ship was tossed
if not for the courage of the fearless crew
the Minnow would be lost
the Minnow would be lost

-still has impact no matter how may times you hear it.
