I just thought I'd share:

I am watching a Frontline documentary on Bradley Manning, the US soldier who allegedly passed classified intelligence to WikiLeaks, and what pops up on the screen but the familiar face of Kevin Poulsen...Dark Dante himself!

An older thread referenced the fact that he writes for Wired, but apparently now he is a senior editor.

Don't laugh (or please do) but I just woke up from a nap so when I saw "Dark Dante" I thought of our friendly user here on the boards rather than Kevin Poulson ;) And yes, Tacos and Star Wars forever for our friend the K man.

Ah Kevin, he's made a good life for himself. :) I always wanted that underdog to win.

It turns out he was sort of a central figure in exposing Bradley Manning as the the WikiLeaks source. HOW THE TABLES HAVE TURNED!! :lol: I haven't finished watching the Frontline episode, but it is super interesting so far.

And to be fair to Kevin, we may never know if Star Wars and tacos were actually part of his early hacking-days online persona. I'd like to think that they were....

Very true -- just like Frank Abignale (the real guy from the book and movie "Catch Me If You Can"). He was the ultimate con man and check forgerer, but later (after prison) he went to work for the check companies to help them design better security features. Crazy but I guess it really does "Take one to know one." ;)

This is off topic, but if you have seen the movie "Catch Me If You Can" but not read the book, you are missing out. The book is AWESOME and goes into way more detail than the movie. I was fortunate enough to meet Frank Abignale once and his story is pretty incredible. He was not at all arrogant about what he did and in fact he can across as a pretty average guy.

I wonder what it would be like to talk to Kevin Poulsen these days?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this on another thread, but per Kevin's Wikipedia page, on the night his segment ran on Unsolved Mysteries, their 1-800 tip line mysteriously crashed. I wonder who was behind that? :-)

Probably Bill Gates and Paul Allen; windows 3.1 used to crash all the time. Or was it still DOS 5.5 in those days?
