Tracy Pollan chose to leave Family Ties because she had a boyfriend [who at the time was not MJF] back in New York that she wanted to be with. During the time she was on Family Ties she flew back and forth between Los Angeles and New York.

It's a shame - I would've loved for Tracy to return one last time so Alex and Ellen could finally marry (maybe in the series finale). They were incredible together. :love:

Nice idea, but I think that would have been hard to pull off. At the time Tracy Pollan was pregnant and she gave birth in May 1989. The show would have had to explain the pregnancy....

Yes, MJF was the father. They have four kids together.

I've never herad any reports that she cheated on her boyfriend. She broke up with her before before she even started dating MJF.
