I recently purchased from Nostalgia Merchant the mid 1950's rare sitcom Meet Corliss Archer. 37 of the 39 episodes are in the set, (I imagine the 2 missing shows are lost episodes) the shows are complete and the quality is quite good. As for the show itself, it's a refreshing look back to a more innocent era, light, easygoing family situation type stuff similar to what you would probably see on Ozzie And Harriet. Aside from the 2 missing episodes, this is a great collection of a rare long unseen TV series and I'm glad to have this on DVD. To lovers of vintage TV from this era, this DVD set is highly recommended. As a bonus, on the 10th and last disc of the set are three episodes from other rare shows of that era.

Wow! That really takes me back in time. I haven't seen that show in over fifty years! It seems like another lifetime.

I've heard of this show, but never seen it. They have some episodes on youtube, so I'm going to have to check it out. I enjoy 50s tv shows. :)

Several of the episodes have been airing on a channel called Safe TV including the Christmas episode. This is the series starring Ann Baker as Corliss, I'd like to see the 1951 version with Lugene Sanders.

I've watched 8 episodes so far on the DVD's, one thing I've noticed is that Bobby Ellis, the actor who plays Corliss boyfriend, acts a lot like Arthur Lake's Dagwood Bumstead in the Blondie movies. He has similar mannerisms, is as dumb or dumber as Dagwood is, he even copies that Dagwood Bumstead laugh. Ann Baker is unremarkable as Corliss, she's not a real pretty girl, sort of plain looking just average I guess. I haven't seen this show before, the episodes are fun to watch, not a classic for the ages but fun from a more innocent time. As far as I know, the Corliss series they made prior to this one doesn't exist anymore.

I have to disagree, I thought Ann Baker was very pretty.

Another interesting thing about these Corliss Archer shows is the animated narration sequences that occur during the episodes. The narrator was Hy Averback, who went on to produce F Troop.
