Reno rock drummer Chuck Ruff, known for his work on hits like Edgar Winter Group's monster hit "Frankenstein," died Friday after a long illness.
Redrocker.com reports that Ruff died in San Francisco. He was 60. Ruff played locally with the Chuck Ruff Group and Geezerslaw.
Sammy Hagar, who Ruff once drummed for, said on his website, “I lost one of my old bandmates, Chuck Ruff today. Chuck was my drummer on ‘Danger Zone’ and ‘Street Machine’ and many many live tours together. I have only memories of great times and great music with Chuck. My condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.”
