Steve Harvey is one hot personality. Right now he's got a popular radio show, and he's breathed new life into the syndicated game show "Family Feud," which originally hit the airwaves 35 years ago.
Today it was announced that his daytime talk show, which will debut in the fall of 2012, has been sold to the NBC owned-and-operated TV stations.
Said the announcement, "Produced by Endemol USA, the new one-hour talk show starring TV personality, comedian, radio show host and best-selling author Steve Harvey, will air on the 10 NBC Owned Television Stations, which include WNBC New York, KNBC Los Angeles, WMAQ Chicago, WCAU Philadelphia, KNTV San Francisco, KXAS Dallas Fort-Worth, WRC Washington DC, WTVJ Miami, KNSD San Diego and WVIT Hartford."
The announcement was expected since the show will be distributed by NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution.
The announcement said this about 'Family Feud," which is distributed by Debmar-Mercury: "In the first year (2010-11) with Steve Harvey as host of 'Family Feud,' viewership increased over the prior season by an average of one million viewers per day, including a 47% increase with women 18-49 and a 55% increase among women 25-54, making it the fastest-growing show in all of syndication. Steve Harvey’s appeal continues to grow in the new 2011-12 season as “Family Feud” ratings increased over last season-to-date by an additional 63% among women 18-49 and 40% among women 25-54 viewers."
Barry Wallach, President, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution, said in a statement, "Steve Harvey is a phenomenal broadcaster who will deliver his unique comedic approach to daytime talk. Steve appeals to a wide cross section of daytime viewers making him a great fit for the daypart. We are looking forward to working with Steve and the team at Endemol USA to bring this new talk show to local TV stations."
