I hadn't watched TVLand much lately. That changed last week, with their weeklong marathon I saw 21 episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show. :D

For LESS than it costs for one month of Cable TV in my area you can see that other half on DVD!

Pay-TV = Big WASTE of Money! :angryfire

..when "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW" is on TV LAND these days, 'MRPITT'- it's just that they actually show less than when "Nick At Nite" carried it, years and years ago. I've noticed more "fade-outs" at the beginning and end of certain scenes, where there originally weren't; TV LAND merely "shaved off" a few seconds here and there, in order to squeeze in more commercials. As for "end credits"...forget it! This is no way to treat a "classic" TV series- but then again, Hallmark Channel does the same thing to "I LOVE LUCY" early in the morning, and they have no respect for "classic TV shows" as well.

As far as I know they treat the shows very well. They may not show the shows totally un-edited,but they are alot better than TVLand. If you get either Me tv or Antenna tv(which I do get) chances are you'll hardly even look at TVLand.

I rarely watch Tvland as it is, I'll catch a Mash episode from time to time. Sadly, I'm not able to get Me-Tv or Antenna Tv :( they have a great lineup.

You mean WHAT'S LEFT of Leave it to beaver!

Lets see, late 1950s = 26 Minutes of Programming - 9 Minutes Cut off to add Commercials = 17 Minutes + 5 MORE Minutes of Commercials added 'Making the schedule go "Off the Clock" = 18 Minutes of Commercials per episode.

:( :angryfire omg: PURE INSANITY!!! omg: :angryfire  :(

Better late than Never Again, but now I'm watching "Mr. Belvedere" on DVD that I got from the Library.

I hope the damn networks DO wake-up from the nightmare they made once 9/11 hit...I'm sorry, but I feel that date REALLY destroyed TV in the 2000's!

TV Land never got away from classic tv completely so I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I saw leave it to beaver on tv land in the summer I'm talking about what people on this board who has been complaining about for years ...The decline in TV LAND ,classic line up . Pepole has been reqesting certain shows and TV LAND would ignore us viewers request .Now we have channels like Antenna and ME-TV,that is a throw back to the old TV LAND . Now they finally want to add a good classic sitcom after showing the same shows ,that are not all classic simotanusly. Too late...TAKE ME TO Antenna and ME-TV LAND BABY....lol
 TV LAND have compotison now ,lets see if they will improve ...I wouldn't hold my breath.

What did 9/11 have to do with the destruction of TV, Paul?

I caught an episode of 'Dick Van Dyke' last weekend on TV Land. They were running it so fast that Mary Tyler Moore sounded like one of the Chipmunks. Anything to squeeze in an extra commercial or two.

TV Land should go out of business for this.

It started out good, then has gone down hill. They were showing that crappy High School Reunion reality show. That's not classic tv. Now they are making their own sitcoms. I wish Antenna or Me-TV will hurry and come to my area. I wonder if TV Land will feel the competition breathing down their necks.

What did 9/11 have to do with the destruction of TV, Paul?

Well, when I got Dish Network in 2001, many stations STILL kept their identity, but for some odd-ass reason, after 9/11...most TV Stations have sold-out to Reality Shows, the first is MTV when they played less and less Music Vids. Then on 11/2002 The Disney Channel became The "Disney" Channel as they dumped the Mickey Mouse Cartoons for Hanna Montana. After that...Cartoon Network decided to NOT show Looney Tunes and show Reality Shows.

Now THAT'S why I feel that 9/11 Changed Television!

TV Land would be in competition with Me-TV before Antenna TV because both TV Land and AntTV air a lot of the same shows

Married with children
all in the family
three's company
sanford and son

Not really. All in the Family expired on TV Land earlier this month so its no longer there. It only airs on Antenna TV now. And Married With Children can never stay in one plays. It airs on TV Land off and on every now and then but never seems to stay put.

Actually, Hannah Montana didn't start until 2006 at the earliest.

They began going downhill long before Hanna Montana came on the scene. :(

Still dont have ME-TV but have been watching TV Land for Married with Children and the Dick Van Dyke show. I would like to give TV Land the benefit of the doubt by showing Dick Van Dyke but would it shock ANYBODY to see that show off the air sooner than later?? Hey, remember, Hot in Cleveland returns Nov. 30.

At least they're trying, I'm not seeing as many reality show reruns when I surf through the display schedule now. Maybe they realize it's time for an overhaul and that they've been stagnant since at least 2005. I'm noticing changes over at VH1 as well, Behind the Music is already back and Pop Up Video has returned. They also show Top 20 a lot more than they used to.

I like the addition of Dick Van Dyke, but their schedule still leaves a lot to be desired. Plus, the off-the-clock programming makes it hard to enjoy anything on this channel. I've been watching and recording a lot more of Antenna TV and if I had ME-TV, I'd be in classic tv heaven.

I discovered the King of Queens in syndication in 2003 and have loved it ever since. One of the things that makes the show great is Jerry Stiller. If he wasn't in it, the show would still be funny, but not as good. Jenny O'Hara also had a recurring role on it as Doug Heffernan's mother.
