What was the real reason? TV Knowledge Fan 10-11-2011, 03:02 PM ...the episode in question wasn't repeated in prime-time in the summer of 1966. Originally, the sponsor's product was featured in the lower left-hand corner of the screen during the closing credits {either a Procter & Gamble product [like Crest, Mr. Clean or Joy], or a Kent cigarette pack; they were the series' alternate sponsors}. For network rebroadcasts and future syndication, that space was usually filled by a sketch of Dick's profile from a 1961 publicity photo. In the case of "Talk To the Snail", I think the people who filmed the closing credits weren't able to replace the original Procter & Gamble product with Dick's face in time for later rebroadcasts, and left that "blank". (p.s. Don't look for those credits on TV LAND, though!) :tv: jehobden 10-24-2011, 02:27 AM ...the episode in question wasn't repeated in prime-time in the summer of 1966. It's interesting though to discover some of the classic DVD eps that CBS did not repeat in summer reruns (again according to TV Guide), like "What's in a Middle Name" and "Big Max Calvada". |
