My guess is that some of the episodes may not be in the best of shape. The ones I've seen this week appear to be in nice condition. I hope "A Crush on Bentley", the episode featuring a very young Linda Evans is included in the 118. When I last saw this series on cable in the 1980s, the prints were poor quality 16mm versions, and the shows were shown in a random order. rcbrad 10-08-2011, 10:57 AM Thanks for posting. I was wondering if they had access to all of the episodes. Perhaps roughly a particular season is missing? 39 episodes is roughly one season from seasons 3 to 5. I remember a number of episodes that I would like to see again. I hope these are among the ones they have access to. Nevertheless, I am recording what is available. TV_on_the_Porch 10-12-2011, 08:15 PM For some reason CBN seemed to run only the 1961-62 episodes. That's an exaggeration of course, but quite literally there seemed to be about as many episodes run from the first four seasons as there was from the final season when BF was on CBN. I can tell you that I only ever saw the first season opening sequence on CBN about twice. Perhaps Pat Robertson didn't like it. A bachelor sees a pair of gigantic gams walk by and . . . something . . . goes boingggg?! If you think that's too petty a reason or too innocuous for Pat Robertson to deep six it you haven't read enough about him. rcbrad 10-14-2011, 08:51 PM For some reason CBN seemed to run only the 1961-62 episodes. That's funny, I remember reading that CBN decided not to show a few of the Doris Day show episodes because they were "not appropriate" for their audience. OH Nuts! 10-18-2011, 06:40 PM I'm just so ecstatic that it's even being aired....haven't seen the show in years. I'm taping (DVD'g) eps every day now that I've discovered it on TV. I remember loving the show when it was in syndication when I was a kid (60s) stevea 12-22-2011, 10:28 AM Antenna seemed to miss a lot of season 5. MRPITT 12-22-2011, 11:51 AM Antenna seemed to miss a lot of season 5. I think they are skipping the same ones as RTV, though I could be wrong because I didnt get to see the whole run on RTV. mets82 12-22-2011, 04:28 PM My mom turned me on to Bachelor Father on Antenna and I like it. I didnt know they didnt have all the episodes. rcbrad 12-22-2011, 09:06 PM Antenna seemed to miss a lot of season 5. Yes, this is true. Perhaps it was a cost factor that was an issue for AT to not pay for the full series run. I am just very grateful to be able to burn to disc the episodes that are available. Maybe someday I can get the others that are not a part of this package. The cycle is starting over again with the first episode on 12/26/11. I need to catch some episodes that I missed recording due to equipment mishaps. HarryWild 09-16-2012, 08:27 AM This is one of my favorite shows! Antenna just show it I think on Fridays at 8:00 P.M. CST. I wish they would do it on a more regular bases. Does anyone know if it is on DVD? I check about a year ago and it was not at that time. siblis 09-26-2012, 02:34 AM No, it is not available on DVD. HarryWild 09-26-2012, 04:01 AM Is Bachelor Father on Hulu or Netflix by chance? Casey83 10-15-2012, 11:36 AM Is Bachelor Father on Hulu or Netflix by chance? Nope. It's not even been officially released on DVD. :( HarryWild 05-15-2013, 07:23 AM The episodes are complete, running around 25:30. Bad news is they only got 118 of the 157 shows. Finally got it back on in a decent time - 11-12 CST on the weekdays. I love to get the DVD for it however! Not sure why it not available yet! Roadster 06-07-2013, 05:44 PM Bachelor Father is available on dvd > dvdsentertainmentonline I just order the (2) disc set. I'll let everyone know when I get it. A lot of people always comment on how unrealistic shows like Bachelor Father was but the point was then (and should be now) it gave society something to aspire to be more like and provide good role models. Unlike today where the point seems be something very average (or often below avg) to relate to. This isn't an accident. The powers that be are very well aware of what a powerful medium television & movies are and use it to control social consciousness. I just wish we could return (and I think we slowly are) to a much more conservative society w/ more humility, respect and compassion as American society had in the late 1950's - early 1960's. That conservatism starts w/ self respect I think. Roadster 06-14-2013, 11:31 AM I got dvds. The best way I describe them quality is the probably are very similar to how they'd look watching them at home on your television in 1962. They even contain the original commercials which are mostly Tareyton cigarette ad which seem outrageous knowing what we know now re: how dangerous cigarette smoking is. They were regarded like toothpaste or soap back then. Forsythe & Tong themselves each even do a Tareyton commercial. Reminds me of Laramie cigarette ads on The Simpsons. Overall I'd say they're definitely worth the $25 bucks I spent. biffbronson 06-26-2013, 10:36 PM I love this series. I can catch Antenna TV now and you can bet I'll be glued to the TV. As another poster mentioned, I hope to see the Linda Evans episode. I think one of today's had a Cheryl Holdridge appearance, but I missed it. HarryWild 09-20-2013, 10:38 PM I say most of Antenna TV's Bachelor Father now! Some are just super great! But they are beginning to repeat the episodes. Is there a complete DVD series? Or has anyone found an online streaming for Bachelor Father? |
