(The Detroit Tigers won the ALDS, 3 games to 2, by beating the NY Yanlees 3-2.)

(Ralph is eating lunch with Ed by the sewer.)

Ed: "Boy, what a sad game Ralph-ie boy. THose Yankees had it all won."

Ralph: "Yup. Just think Norton. Now, the Yankees are probably going to fire that BUM Joe Giradi. He ahs been a dissapointment as far as I am concerned.

Ed: "Me too. It could have been the Yankees against Texas. But no."

Ralph: "Now, I have to deal with that Joe Fenstablau today. He is going to be all over my case."

Ed: "Look on the bright side of things. The Yankees will win another world championship in no time."

Ralph: "Yeah, I guess you are right."

Ed: "After all, it's only 12 months until we get to the 2012 postseason which will include an off-season and 162 games in which I hope none will be rained out."

Ralph (yells): "WILL YOU SHUT UP! HOW CAN YOU EXPECT ME TO SMILE WHEN YOU TALK LIKE THAT?"

Ed: "It's easy Ralph. All I have to do is pretend that the Yanks are champions."

Ralph: "I will do that too."

Ed: "Yeah. They didn't get beat up by Detroit during games 2, 4 & 5. They didn't lose last night's game by the skin of their teeth. They didn't dissapoint Yankee fans by losing..."

Ralph (yells): "GET OUT! GET OUT! GEEEEEEEEEEEEEET OUT!"

(Ed goes back down the sewer.)

(Jackie Gleason walks on stage. Audience applauds.)

Jackie: "Thank you. Good night everybody."

(Audience cheers.)
