View Full Version : My hubby's comments tonight
My hubby watched the first 10 minutes of TD tonight with me and said, "Who is that?" speaking about Magda. "She's hot".
Then he said, " I thought Nancy McKeon was in this show".. I said , "She is.....right there" . He said " God, she hasn't aged well". This coming from a "typical" guy who adored Nancy in FOL and movies since then. I sat there pissed because he was making me miss watching the show. " So how is she supposed to look sweeite?" I said. " I don't know, she's changed" he said. " Well people do as they get older and I think she looks great. I'm her age, do you feel the same way about me?" I said.
"I think you look great hon, and I'm sorry I insulted you about Nancy. I just haven't seen her in a while." The words trickle off his tongue as I remind him that he will be 34 in a few months.
Sigh....guys, getting older is so hard sometimes! But I wouldn't go back for a million bucks. You all will see what I mean when you get here................;)
Michele35 01-14-2002, 12:15 AM Hey Eva,,,

Very true. I got my mom watching it now, and she likes Kate as her favorite just like me *grins*
And, I'm NOT telling you what she said about Nancy. I'd be kicked off the boards forever and ever. And it wouldn't be TJ who would be doing the kicking...

 That's true, Blair. Next time however, I think it would be wise if you didn't ask his opinion on anything TD or NMK. It's obvious he isn't fond of either...I never mention them around my dad either, he sees no point in it...hard to believe I know.

Jeanie 01-14-2002, 08:23 PM I will have to say my one daughter doesn't like The Division and I wonder if she has any of my genes in her. Lol. Just kidding. I see it this way. I like it and that is fine and if she doesn't that is fine also. I would never tell my girls what to watch or not watch that is their choice. But I also wouldn't tell them something that they liked is stupid either. I know everyone has different tastes and that is what makes up this world we live in. I for one can't wait til Sunday to see the new episodes of The Division.

Jinny Girl 01-14-2002, 10:42 PM Well my mom LOOOOOOVES the Division and she doesnt really think nancys pretty but I dont carer she never said she was ugly and my dad thinks the show is cool and umm... Never asked him bout Nancy.... A 13 year old boy from Long Island saud shes hott though...
sue z q 01-14-2002, 10:55 PM LOL, my parents hate the Division, but thank God they're letting me watch it...hehe, and my mom thinks Nancy's all ugly now. She hates how her hair is always in her face, and she thinks she's too thin, but she thought she was pretty when she was younger. :)
And my dad, well, anytime I watch an FOL ep, the second the theme song comes on, he closes the blinds we have in between the room with the comp, and the living room where the T.V. is...LOL ;)

Is there any chance our mothers are related because they certainly sound just alike.

Wisupastar 01-15-2002, 12:13 AM lol...my dad hates anything to do with Lifetime, my 12 year old bro thinks a Magda and Raina are hot, and my mom watches the Division with me. Nobody really hates it though..lol

The one I was talking about is 16 and the youngest is 13. The 13 year old will watch it once in a while.
Thought I'd put my two cents in about Nancy. She looks great to me but she has changed. (As everyone does when they get older). However she has lost alot of weight since her FOL days, she does look a bit thin to me. I think her hair looked better last season with shorter bangs. They also make her very pale to me and all the black she wears really makes it worse. They need to give her some more color, maybe use some bronzing powder, not much, but just to give her a bit of a glow. Or maybe that's the way they want her for her character right now. Jinny is no nonsense and isn't a real "girlie" gal, so makeup to her probably isn't important. She could still use some color though.
Has she ever looked like she had any sort of tan at all on the show or is she always that way?
Thanks guys!
#1_Nancy_McKeon 01-15-2002, 06:39 PM See my mom doesn't hate the show.. She likes to watch the Original Run ,and I'm happy to say she's seen them all every one of them and some maybe even twice. She also thinks Nancy is still very pretty. She used to watch The Facts of Life and put me in front of the tv to watch it when I was younger when it was on NBC. haha.. but sadly to say her favorite is Magda if you can imagine that. lol.. So every Sunday night she is in my room to watch The Division... Jinny says something mean to Magda..My mom gives ME the bad look.. What's up with that? lol
As for my brother..He'll put in Facts of Life at night before he goes to bed, but I always change it to the Division about like an episode. haha...
Phil, he has watched all the Division episodes aswell. I'm so proud about that. haha..
BTW, Jeanie's daughter both rule... ;)
ISmellFine 01-15-2002, 08:23 PM GAwd, why do these people think Nancy is ugly??? She's one of the prettiest people. Anyway, my mom likes Nancy and she's seen around 4 or 5 eps of TD (concidering shes picky, I am proud :D). She knows how obsessed I am with Nancy...and I don't think she minds. Anyway...

oh....i c..cool dude cool ! my mom doesn't like the division. the fact that it's like tv14 bugs her. she's like so..ok i just..ugh ! i can't describe it. she thinks i'm too young to be watching the division. lol...she thinks i'm too young for everything. my mom and i stay away from each other...when we're together either we're arguing or she's lecturing me or i'm talking back to her while she's lecturing me. has anyones mom ever lectured them and they think you aren't listening so they ask you to repeat what they just said and you do and it's right ? my mom did that a couple of million times...she was so shocked to see that i was paying attention. i have a short attention span..if it's not of nancy or the division or fol..i won't bother listening to it. lol. :D
Adele 01-15-2002, 09:54 PM Ok.....I don't get why people think Nancy is ugly either....I doubt a lot of people look any better BUT ANYWAYZ.....My mom has liked Nancy since FOL, and she's watched her movies, and she doesn't watch TD but that's ok ...I guess. About Nancy looking too pale- I think she's supposed to have a kind of "washed up" look to her.

Well Everyone even myself tunes people out. I have done it. I will admit it. As for the Division being TV14 I don't care. I let my youngest watch it. I mean it is like this I feel it is better they watch it at home cause they can learn it ther places if they so desire. I have taken both the girls to see R rated movies. Sometimes I don't like the movie personally not because of the rating but because of the acting so I figure if I have done my job right and taught them right from wrong it is no big deal. Besides I was watching all that stuff when I was that age and younger.

my mom thinks the same way. She says Nancy is like a pyscho for taking over my life and she hates her hair! :(
Kay Scarpetta 01-16-2002, 11:01 AM Actually it's 4 moms now, LOL. Way back when, thats how my mom used to feel about Nancy. I tried to run away and meet Nancy. I got as far as the 5th house on my street and my mom yelled at me.

Hey I am nothing like that. I could care less about makeup and going to the hairdresser. I would rather bum around in a pair of jeans and a tishirt. But that is me. I also know Miranda's mom is not like that either. My 16 year old daughter is always giving me a hard time cause I don't mind if my hair is wind blown or not. She is like Mom and I say what?. She is the one that primps. Not me. Ask Miranda. lol.....

LOL, Jeanie, I didn't mean you, I was talking about those of us whose mother's don't approve of Nancy and how she looks cause they were from a different era of women...my mom grew up in the fifties, and I am reminded constantly of how women were then and how differnet they are now...I'm like, 'Yes, I know, mom, that in your day women took five hours to look perfect for their husbands, but I have to be at school by 9! I don't have time to make myself look drop dead gorgeous!! " LOL ;)

I have never spent 5 hours on getting ready. lol. That is to funny. I know what you mean though my mom was like that. Everything had to be in place. I get up at 6 and have to be at wirk by 7 tells you how much time I spend. I also usually reset the alarm to 6:20 so that doesn't leave much time and I grew up in the 60's although I don't remember all of it.

LOL, Jeanie...yeah, with my mom, she's always like, "Why don't you curl your hair more often? It looks so pretty when you do!" I'm like, "MOM! Do the words at school by 9 mean anything to you?" LOL, then she tells me how it only takes a few hours to set your hair in curlers, I'm like, "MOM! I'm not getting up at 5 am to make my hair curly!" Then she pouts and acts all hurt...LOL, then I give in and now I have a perm... *sighs* Moms...LOL ;)
Kay Scarpetta 01-17-2002, 12:16 PM lol, well my mom grew up in the 70's where everyone spent 2 hours just walking to school because their platforms were so big... she does like Nancy. Don't get me wrong. She just thinks shes ugly, thats all.

I'm pretty sure we might have the same mother. My momdoesn't hound me about it, she's cool and all, but then again she has finally come to understand there is no way on God's green earth that I'm getting up an hour early just to make appearance overly nice. I'm not a morning person, ad 6 is early enough for me...ugh! I prefer my jeans and windblown hair...

Word. Although being 18 again may be worthwhile.
By the way, Mr. Coily is not allowed to watch the Division, because he is just a jerk about it. Decorum prevents me from repeating his statements here :(
*Marilyn Monroe* 01-19-2002, 04:40 PM OK you know how when you don't want your mom's opinion, she gives it to you and then when you want it, she's like that's something that you need to figure out by yourself? That's my mom for you. And every Sunday, she's like "Kayla, it's 8, aren't you going to go hibernate and watch the Division?" She thinks it's stupid. But my brothers watch it with me! :happyface My four year old brother still goes "JO!" everytime a commercial comes of for TD!
