"The Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco appeared on "Live With Regis and Kelly" and revealed that she almost didn't get the part of Penny on "Big Bang".


"I actually tested for this role twice and got told 'no' twice by Chuck Lorre. He was like 'It's just not for you and we'll find something for you.' and I was like 'eh'.

Then I auditioned a third time and then I got the role... it was a very bizarre situation."

I'm glad she got it... the character could be really unlikeable but she plays it with a lot of warmth.

i'd actually like to know who they were originally leaning towards before they gave her the role - WHO TURNED IT DOWN? (and is now kicking themself?)

They gave the role to another actress. They even did a pilot.

Amanda Walsh was the actress, but it was actually a different character than Penny she was playing.
