"LEAVE IT TO BEAVER", under the sponsorship of Remington Rand (manufacturer of typewriters and UNIVAC), premiered on CBS' Friday night schedule October 4, 1957 at 7:30pm(et)....directly opposite ABC's "ADVENTURES OF RIN-TIN-TIN" [for Nabisco], which had more kids and their families watching. In March 1958, the sponsor moved "BEAVER" to 8:30pm on Wednesdays...opposite NBC'S "FATHER KNOWS BEST" [for Scott Paper and Lever Brothers]. There just weren't enough viewers for Remington Rand to justify renewing the series on CBS for another season, and they dropped their sponsorship. Fortunately, Ralston-Purina {Purina Dog Chow} was interested enough to sustain the series on ABC's Saturday night schedule for the fall of 1958..and that's where it found its audience!
