I have started a new Facebook page called "We Want "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" on DVD. The purpose of this page is to convince the rights holders, 20th Century Fox, that it is worth their while to release this show on DVD or lease it to a third party company (MPI, Shout Factory etc.) dor DVD release. The way to do that is to get a whole lot of likes on this page. So if you like this show and would like to see it released on DVD please take a few seconds to like this Facebook page. Thanks!

Thanks for starting that page Marv! I hope you get a lot of "likes" over there. I'd love to see more people posting about the show. If no one else posts, I'll just keep adding pictures, as long as no one gets tired of looking at them. :)

You're welcome. It's no problem at all. Like I said, I have a bit of an obsession with this show and so badly want to have it on DVD!

This may generate interest, but there are many legal/rights issues associated with Dobie and that's why it hasn't been released on DVD as of yet. It was remastered a few years ago in preparation for DVD, but the Max Schulman estate is holding things up. It certainly won't be as easy to get this out as it was for S4 of Donna Reed but good luck.

I'm not a fan of this show, but Nostalgia Merchant has some Dobie Gillis DVD's, a 9 disc set of 36 episodes for $59.95. I think that price is too high for just 36 episodes, but for fans who want Dobie on DVD this might whet your appetite until complete season sets are issued, if they ever come to pass.

Our hope is to give the parties involved the impetus to resolve their differences by letting them know there is an audience ready and waiting for "Dobie Gillis" on DVD. Thanks for your good wishes!

My pleasure! And I'll take all the suggestions you can give me as to what you like to see on the page. I won't make any promises but I'll try my best.

I don't really have any suggestions. I just wish more people would post. I have noticed the number of people liking the page is going up! That is exciting to see. :)

What a great year this has been so far! First hockey comes back, now this...

Like Maynard G Krebs would say, "Like, I'm getting all misty."

Shout Factory is the greatest!

Shout! Factory is currently in pre-production on a DVD box set of the complete series and expects it to hit stores later this year. The company secured both physical media rights and all digital rights.

Wow. Complete series. This year.

Getting that.
