Hubby and I picked up a couple of those goofy movie compilations they love to sell around Halloween and one of the films included was actually not too bad. It was called Moon of the Wolf. Made in '72 I believe.

I just had to come by and suggest that if you get a chance, watch it. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out that Carroll watched this film and used the sheriff as a template to work from for his Heat character.

The mannerisms are just eerily similar. The gruff, quick wit. It's like seeing Gillespie played by someone else and done so dead on. Early Gillespie, when he was cool! Not later Gillespie, when he started looking and acting like a grandpa.

Apparently, I'm not alone in thinking so. I googled the film name and heat to find that a lot of folks reviewed it as "heat meets x-files" or "heat with a werewolf".

Just weird fun. Check it out.

You can save this to your DVD queue on Netflix now. I stress SAVE, it's listed but not available yet. Might be available on the streaming side.

I didn't review it. Didn't have to. Several people agreed with me. Heat meets werewolves. Kolchak was mentioned several times too.

So, if you can stream it, have some fun and give it a try. Halloween is nearly upon us.

I have it in one of those 50 movie DVD packs. It's a pretty good made for TV movie, though I think most of the made for TV movies from the 70s especially horror were the best.

I do need to watch it again now for the sheriff's performance :)
