I won't go into the details. Suffice it to say that I am going through some financial and family problems right now. I'm becoming more and more discouraged, despondent and depressed every day. I don't want to have to give up my Internet service but it may come to that. I would really miss my
online friends ... esp. since they're the only friends I have (except my dog).
I keep hoping things will get better; instead, they seem to go from bad to worse (esp. the economic picture). My last job was stressful. So, I was relieved at first when I was able to retire. But even retirement isn't carefree, especially when there is a money shortage. I don't have to tell you it's tough to make ends meet; many of you probably are going through the same situation right now. Well, thanks for listening.

I am sorry to hear about your difficulties. I am in the same boat, trying to find work, I haven't had a steady job since June and have had no luck finding work. If it wasn't for my boyfriend, I would be homeless. He has been such a lifesaver for me, he works his tail off to make sure I have everything I need. You are in my prayers and I really hope things get better for you. I am here if you need to talk, just send me a PM and I will do my best to be there for you. I wish you the best of luck in the future and please hang in there. Remember, you have God and He can get you through anything. You are not alone, even though it may seem that way. You have a lot of people who care about you and are here for you. :) :bighug:

Prayers going up.

If you do happen to lose your internet service(which can be a blessing some times), and if you don't already, get yourself a bible and ask God for help and guidance. I mean really earnestly and honestly ask for help. He will never forsake you.

If it is just you and your dog is there any chance you could get a room mate, someone to share expenses?
Prayers and good luck to you

Count me in as another one struggling financially. I still haven't found work - I haven't had a steady job in almost two years. But I try to remember that God is stronger than our circumstances - and that "this too shall pass". God bless you, my friend!!!!!

Hang in there. This is a horrible economy, and so many of us are in danger of "falling between the cracks". We just had a meeting at work on Friday that was really depressing, seems as if we don't get our act together our facility may close for good, and since no one gives us the funding we need to do that, I'm afraid the writing may be on the wall.

I also report for a paper locally, and every single meeting I attend the focus is lack of money...schools, local governments, etc. Really depressing.

Guess I'm saying we're all in this together. And you have my prayers and good wishes. As Tom Hanks said in "Castaway", it's important to keep breathing, because you never know what may wash up on shore. :)

Prayer works! My niece has offered to take care of my water bill this month.
That was my most pressing, immediate problem.

Tomorrow, I'm going to call my security alarm system and see if they will suspend my service, at least temporarily. I need water, electricity, heat, and the telephone; and I want to keep my basic cable TV and Internet. But, if I have to, I can do without the security system. When I was working, it was a necessity (if only for my peace of mind). But, now that I am home most of the time, it's more of a "luxury." Years ago, I thought about having it suspended. But, as I recall, there is only one time during the year that you can suspend it without paying a penalty. I'll have to find out tomorrow. That's the only other option I can think, to save any money. At least, that will save me $33.45 a month. (I've already paid this month's bill.)

Thanks to all of you for your concern and (of course) your prayers. God bless!

Welcome to my world...

I know I may be melancholy right now, but my parents are in financial jeopardy right now (like most of America is). And living in the 3rd Poorest City in America, it isn't getting any better. I feel that God isn't listening and my purpose in life is null and void, so like you I could use 1,000,000 prayers now!

Hey Karl, I'm so sorry to hear this. You are a great friend, and it's been a priveledge getting to know you better on Facebook. I just want you to know that you have been in my prayers everyday for two or three weeks now, and I will pray even harder now. If you do have to get offline, please say goodbye before you go. I hope everything works out my friend!

Awesome news, that was sweet of her to do that. I know that you are a God fearing, and a God loving man, so I think everything will work out in the end. Especially now with so many people praying for you. Goodluck!

Thanks to everyone who has responded. Some problems are still in the process of being resolved. My roof needs replacing, and I'm waiting to hear from the claims adjuster. My annual food stamp approval is held up because I inadvertently omitted some expenses on my form. I'll have to wait longer but will get more benefits, so it's worth it in the long run. As far as the other bills are concerned, I'm just taking each day as it comes along. We still have a roof over our heads (such as it is), and are both in fairly good health and have food on the table (my dog and I both have delicate stomachs). But I count my blessings each day that we still have each other ... and friends like you guys! You're the BEST!

Re my security system: in lieu of suspending service, they offer what is called "modified service," which means you only pay $4.95/month for six months. At the end of that period, you can either (1)
cancel service and pay the remaining balance ($100+), or (2) negotiate a lower rate than the current rate of $33/month. You don't have to pay the $100+ balance untill you cancel service.

Re the insurance claim: the claims adjuster is coming tomorrow afternoon, between 3 and 4 p.m., to check the additional damage to my roof.

^ I hope everything will turn out okay for you. When one of my co-workers lost her job, her church took up a collection to help pay some of her bills. It never hurts to mention it.
