View Full Version : Anybody FRUSTRATED With 'How I Met Your Mother' & The Fact There Is No Mother Yet?!?
Brian Damage 09-24-2011, 09:22 AM How I Met Your Mother
Why We Loved It: It was about a group of friends hanging out, which we've seen a million times before, but here there was the twist that we were flashing back to find out how Ted ended up happily married.
What Changed: We still haven't met the mother, or gotten even close. But in the larger scheme of things, Barney's shtick is wearing really thin and everyone's worst qualities are starting to show.
Can It Be Saved? We'd like to think so. Every season, the producers get our hopes up by saying they're going to course-correct, but after last year's uneven (and largely unfunny) season, we're skeptical.

Brian Damage 10-22-2011, 09:42 PM I agree, I mean how long can you hold off the "Mother" from appearing?

The problem is as soon as the mother appears the show is over. And since the show is doing well in the ratings the network wants the show to continue as do the producers and the cast. Therefore they have to find more stories to tell and continue to to keep the mother's identity a secret.

I hear what you are saying Marv, but I kinda disagree. If you introduce the mother, you can then show viewers them dating and getting married etc. Besides, the show has been on a long time now, ratings have started to slip a little. It couldn't hurt to introduce her this season.

That's a good point, i guess once it's decided the show will have it's final season then the mother can be introduced

Sol, what do you want? Do you want her to be hidden until the series ends?

She may have to because I think what keeps everyone tuned in is NOT knowing who the mother is-LOL

I *think* people are starting not to care anymore because it has been so long. lol

Well the writers want to get as many checks as possible so they will continue to think of something -lol

I guess you are right about that. lol

I think the only people who don't care are those two kids, sitting down listening to Dad tell them this extremely long story about meeting their mom and the story begins at least seven years before they meet, lol. "Um, Dad, we have homework to do." ;)
As far as I'm concerned, it's called "How I MET Your Mother." The whole show leads up to their meeting, which could very well be the series finale.

You are 100% correct, but don't you think fans are getting a bit restless lately.

They probably are.
It was the same thing with "Monk." I wanted Monk to hurry up and solve Trudy's murder, however, I knew they were saving that for the series finale. I loved "Monk", but I wanted it to end so I could see HOW it ends, lol.
I'm not saying they will wait till the finale to introduce her, I'm just saying they could do that and it would still be living up to the show's title.
The only thing that gets me is all the stories Ted tells his kids. For us, as viewers, it's good television but for two kids hearing the story of how their Dad met their Mom, most of the episodes have nothing to do with that.
I wonder if they pre-shot the kid's reactions for the finale. I mean no matter how long they thought the show would run for, it would still be a good idea to record the kid's scenes from the beginning since they would eventually grow up.

I had this same thought as well. I guess when CBS decides to cancel the show, then they will do a story arc about the mother and we will finally get to see her. I'll bet the two kids are tired of hearing about the irrelevant stories about the what happens to these characters in episodes that have nothing to do with "mom". LOL.

So true! I stopped watching it last season because I got tired of them dragging it out for so long.
