Another ’80s sitcom, another family vacation filmed as a TV movie. The purpose of the Keatons’ trip to London is for Alex to check out Oxford University, but they soon get entangled in a silly spy caper involving microfilm hidden in their belongings. Despite being trailed by nefarious yet bumbling spies, the Keatons find time to take in the usual tourist spots like Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace

I look at Family Ties in London as a separate entity from the series itself. On that basis I can enjoy the movie for what it is and not have it detract from my enjoyment of the series itself.

That is an excellent point Marv! As great as the show was though, I really feel that at times, they lacked originality. I mean didn't this tv movie air around the time European Vacation debuted in movie theaters? It looks like a blatant rip off. IMO

When I was a kid, I loved the idea of the Keatons going to London. I'm not crazy about the movie, but at the time (when there wasn't as much entertainment as there is now), it was a lot of fun.
