I'll try to explain as best as possible:
*Both shows when they started seemed to strive to be a more hip, urban, multi-cultural alternative or variation of other sketch comedy shows on the air at the time (Disney's new Mickey Mouse Club and NBC's Saturday Night Live).

*Both shows at their respective peaks, had live episodes (the "100" episode for All That in 1999 and the Super Bowl XXVI halftime show for In Living Color).

*Both shows arguably went through a season towards the end on shaky terms since key castmembers, who were in essence, the heart and souls of their respective shows departed (Kenan Ivory Wayans and his siblings mid-way through Season 4/Season 5 entirely for In Living Color and Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell during Season 6 of All That).

*Towards the end of their respective runs, both shows seemed lose a certain degree of its multi-cultural, urban flavor (in part because there were just as many Caucasian castmembers than minorities if not more).

*Both shows towards the end, started moving away from character based sketches in favor of celebrity guest stars and walk on cameos.
