Actually Roseanne was set in Lanford, IL. For a small period Darlene and David were living together in Chicago and Roseanne got mad at that. So Lanford had to be a little far from Chi-Town.

"The Hogan Family" was set in Oak Park, which I assume was a suburb of Chicago.
