Just how many people tuned in to watch the new "Two and a Half Men"?
Close to 28 million.

Ashton Kutcher's debut was seen by 10.3 million people in the 18-49 demographic and a total of 27.8 million viewers.

Last season's debut was seen by 14.7 million viewers, which means that Ashton's debut nearly doubled the Season 8 premiere ratings.

Charlie Sheen's last episode in February was watched by 14.5 million viewers.

The premiere, which dealt with the death of Sheen's Charlie Harper character, included a parade of guest stars like Jeri Ryan, John Stamos, Jenna Elfman and Thomas Gibson.

Kutcher's Walden Schmidt character meets Jon Cryer's Alan after Walden tries to drown himself. The two characters bond over loss and thus a new wacky situation was born.

I kept thinking how funny it would be if Charlie showed up at the end and said, "You've been PUNK'D!!!"
