Edmund Hartmann become producer of "My Three Sons",replacing Peter Tewksbury,and George Tibbles?.George Tibbles stayed on,but Peter Tewksbury didn't.Why were they replaced as producers?

It was really a matter of finding a suitable substitute. Whilst Peter Tewksbury was an innovative director, he was let go at the end of the first year for going over budget which did not sit well with Executive Producer Don Fedderson. After all it was his company and money had to be spent wisely. In Tewksbury's case he was also occasionally writing as well and the demands of anyone doing three jobs would have been an enormous responsibility.

George Tibbles took over for one further season but wanted to concentrate more on script writing. At this point he was not the show's head writer but would soon be. Ed Hartmann then joined the company and remained to the end.
