New to the site...quick question - Which of Mary's looks throughout the run of the MTM show is your favorite??? Mine without doubt is the first season, because Mary looks so young and mod. I read in Mary's book that she felt she was way too thin when the first season was filmed. Liked the the dark long hair as well.

I liked the "look" from around the fourth or fifth seasons the best. I didn't like her hairstyle in some of the sixth season episodes, such as "Chuckles Bites the Dust."

I always liked the first season look too. Mary has said she hated it, because it was really a "fall" used to make her hair look longer. She has said that it was really heavy and made it hard to move. But it was the perfect "innocent" look for the character IMO.

I agree with MLB, that 6th season look was not Mary's style. It looked like a big old lady wig. I remember the episode that Mary goes to Washington (the Betty Ford episode)had to be the episode she looked the worse, if I recall correctly I think that was around the time her sister passed away - correct me if I am wrong. But none the less Mary was and is a sharp looking lady !

I like the first, second, and third season looks

I never cared too much for her looks in the 1st and 5th seasons. However, I absolutely loved her look from the last season because it made her more attractive and feminine.

I too did not like her hair the way she had it in "chuckles Bites the Dust".....that was definitely not her look! I liked her hair how it was in the beginning and I liked it how she had it in the last episode.

Actually no, Mary's sister passed away after the show ended. Sometime in 1978 I think. But anyway my favorite look is the one in the picture on this site. I didn't like the look that she had in "Chuckles either. I think it is because Mary always had a fresh, young look and the way her hair was in this episode reminded me of my grandmother.

I think it's the general consensus that people did not like her hair during the "chuckles bites the dust" time. That hair did make her look much older then she was. As for me I like her the way she looked in the first season and the last. I think she looks the best in the picture in my avatar.
