News Corp. Chief Operating Officer Chase Carey, speaking at a media conference on Tuesday, noted that the company is trying to capitalize on its huge library of episodes of "The Simpsons" -- and one idea is to create a digital channel featuring nothing but the animated Fox program, reports the Los Angeles Times' Company Town blog.

News Corp. needs to tap a show that is "unique in television with a volume too that is unprecedented," Carey said at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media Communications & Entertainment Conference in Beverly Hills, the piece notes. He said there have been a "number of meetings" to figure out how to capitalize on the company’s library of "The Simpsons," which is about to debut its 23rd season on Fox, the piece notes.

Any platform created for "The Simpsons" may have to wait for the show to stop creating new episodes, since rerun deals created years ago are still in effect, the article points out.

I concur. The Simpsons and all of the Law & Order shows each have enough episodes to be their own networks!! Have Matt Groenig and Dick Wolf ever thought about this (as if they don't get enough $$$$ from syndication and DVD sales, but I digress.)?

I can see the Law and Order franchise having it's own network since their are several different shows within that franchise and therefore there would be some variety on that channel. But a network of nothing but The Simpsons 24/7 would eventually get boring and people would stop watching.
