Q: When you put Rhoda to rest after nearly 10 years, was there a kind of grieving period?
A: Not in the case of Rhoda because I had done the first four years on "Mary" and the following five on "Rhoda." It was almost like it came to the end of its time. We had done so many different things and so many jokes and the writers were consistently brilliant. So when it came to the end, it was OK.
I loved that I played Rhoda, and I think I played it for the right amount of time for me. I had always wanted a steady job in this business, a show that lasted. I did almost no television at all before I landed the part of Rhoda. (Laughs) So I got my wish -- a long-lasting job doing what I love to do, which is act and get laughs.
