Soap Opera Digest is reporting Kirsten Storms will take a leave of absence at General Hospital due to a mysterious illness. According to a statement by the show:

Due to illness of Kirsten Storms, the role of Maxie Jones will be temporarily recast by Jen Lilley with a first airdate of September 28. The cast and crew of General Hospital wish Kirsten a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming her back to the set soon.

Wow...I hope this is nothing serious and that she gets well soon.

Judging from that picture one wonders if she has anorexia or some other eating disorder. I sincerely hope she doesn't but she looks awfully skinny!
