The revived Charlie's Angels series is going back to its roots.
The new show – starring Annie Ilonzeh, Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor – will feature an episode called Angels in Chains, which is loosely based on the iconic original from the hit '70s series.
The episode, airing Oct. 6 on ABC, will show the three Angels being framed by crooks and thrown into a women's prison.
The series reboot premieres on Sept. 22 at 8 p.m., marking the 35th anniversary of when the original debuted.

I knew it was going to be "Angels In Chains" even before I clicked on the thread. No way can they ever top the sheer campiness of the original - no way, no how!!!!!

They trotted out every B prison movie chiche known to man in the episode - the sadistic guards, the butch matron, the chain gang, etc. Plus, Jaclyn Smith's line "How long has it been since YOU were sprayed?" to the matron makes me lose it every time!!!

What is with the negativity all the time? Watch it first. They are not trying to overshadow that classic episode. It's a homage to the original series. First you all want it to be similar to the original series, but when they do something close to the original, comparison to the original is made. The pilot is very good.

I guess I'm missing the "negativity" you see. I think everyone who's posted has a kind of whimsical affection for the episode.
And how exactly does anyone NOT compare a remake to the original? That's like wearing a Dracula costume to a masquerade party and being surprised when people expect you to look like Dracula.

All I said was the remake can't come close to the sheer campiness of the original - because nothing could!!!!!

Agreed. I saw most of the episode. It was pretty good. I hope this show make it. It is action packed. I can't stand that these men getting violent with these angels but the girls hold their own.
