Another solved case this year!:D DNA evidence found on Alie's body has identified her killer as a neighbor named Nick Stofer. He had been a suspect from the beginning, but police never had enough evidence to charge him. However, Stofer died in 2001, so he will never be charged.

OMG this is wonderful news! At least he is dead now. I hope he didn't harm anyone else. Edit: I really should read more than the first sentence before I get overexcited and post, hehe.

This is a golden year for UM cold cases.

Was this the case that was featured with the dogs that have an extremely good ability (even moreso than the average dog) to track scents?

 Another unsolved case has been put to rest in 2011! It's definitely been a helluva year for "Unsolved Mysteries"!

I was always a bit bothered by the fact that poor Alie Berrelez's murder kinda took a backseat to profiling Yogi the bloodhound in this segment, but I think that was because LE pretty much exactly knew who the killer was from the outset, but just didn't have the evidence to prove it. Interesting to read that Alie's three-year old brother might have witnessed the kidnapping, but was just too young for his testimony to have any weight.

Even more than that! Off the top of my head:
-Mahfuz Huq, Arthur Lopez, Wade Mitchell Parker and Robert Arcieri have been captured
-Carlina White has been found
-the killers of Mike Emert and Alie Berelez have been determined through DNA evidence, even though both suspects are currently deceased
-the Mike Riemer/Diana Robertson and John/Linda Sohus cases aren't completely solved yet, but have had major developments in the case this past year

Not UM related, but the West Memphis Three were also released from prison, making 2011 one hell of a year for crime buffs!

Yes, it was. The segment originally aired in 1995.

Out of the 4 captured, I only heard about Huq. That's awesome!

they used a bloodhound named Yogi in the episode about Alie's murder. If it weren't for him, they would've never found her body.
