What if IDOJ had been like Bewitched in the sense that Major Nelson did not want Jeannie to use her magic at all? How different do you think the show would have been?

...exactly like the original novel "Dennis Brewster" [Al Hine] wrote for Pocket Books in January 1966 (he also wrote a "BEWITCHED" novel, using early scripts, for Dell in February 1965). There would have been more emphasis on Jeannie and Tony's relationship, and the "embarrassing" moments when Jeannie would be forced to use her magic against "Master's" wishes. It just wouldn't be the same as what we see now.

The show would not be as fun. That's why I found Jeannie so fun and fascinating when I was a little kid. Using less magic on a magical show would not be a positive move, in my opinion. That's why a magical show is different/unique.

I would never want that for Jeannie. Jeannie was liberated and independent. She did what she wanted.

Samantha was the exact opposite. She gave up herself for a man. I'm so glad Jeannie was nothing like Samantha.
