Warning: You might be dead inside if you do not like this show.

All this week, we've been giving you our picks for the five new fall series most worth getting excited about, and suffice to say, we have saved the most squeal-worthy for last.

In fact, we are a bit trembly even as we type this. (Not proud, just honest.)

The best new comedy (or drama!) of the fall is:

New Girl on Fox!

Premieres: Tuesday, Sept. 20, 9 p.m.
Time-Slot Competition: NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS), The Biggest Loser (NBC), Dancing With the Stars (ABC), Ringer (CW)
Cast: Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Jake Johnson, Hannah Simone, Lamorne Morris
Status: We've seen the pilot with Damon Wayans Jr. (of Happy Endings), who was recast with Lamorne Morris

Now, you may have been feeling assaulted lately by the ridiculous amount of New Girl posters and promos splattered all over town and your TV, and you may have wondered to yourself, "Is this silly show worth all the hype? Do I really even like Zooey Deschanel?"

We are here to tell you: Yes. And yes.

New Girl is a glorious conglomeration of oxymorons: heartbreakingly funny, endearingly offensive, snarkily sweet and wrong in all the right ways. The cast is spot on (though we have yet to see Lamorne Morris, a new addition since the original pilot), and Deschanel proves she'll make a complete ass of herself to get a laugh. It works. And it's Deschanel's best work yet.

The half-hour comedy centers around Jess (Deschanel), a newly singly and fully adorkable girl who moves in with three guys (strangers) after a bad breakup.

"I've basically been with the same guy for a long time and he dumps me very suddenly," Deschanel told us at a kickoff party for the show on Wednesday. "I have to find a new support system and so I'm basically living my twenties as I approach my thirties."

That "support system" includes the new roomies who let her move in primarily because she is friends with hot models, and those costars include three relative newcomers with serious comedy chops: Veronica Mars' Deputy Leo (Max Greenfield), Jake Johnson and Morris.

Zooey insists that her charmingly self-unaware character is actually more of a teeny-bopper.

"I think Jess as a person and the way that her personality is, has some of myself and especially some of my younger self, my 13-year-old self. I feel like she's like a 13-year-old."

A 13-year-old who watches Dirty Dancing six or seven times a day, while sobbing uncontrollably, in order to get over her breakup.

And while all this may make New Girl sound like something of a chick show, please note: We know plenty of guys who've watched all the fall pilots and picked New Girl as their favorite for fall.

Final Verdict: If you watch one new show this fall, let it be New Girl. You won't regret it.

this is one of the very few new shows that I am looking forward to, and thankfully there is NOTHING worth watching on in its time slot so hopefully it does well.

My non-spoiler filled review -

In New Girl, Zooey Deschanel plays Jess, an awkward twenty-something who is flabbergasted by the discovery that her boyfriend is cheating on her with another woman. After an awful breakup, Jess is in need of a new place to live, and after a quick Craigslist search, she finds herself living with three bachelors in one of those huge lofts only people on television can afford!

I don't want to spoil the episode for any of you who plan on holding out until the premiere, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for critique. I'm not a professional television critic, so I haven't seen any other pilots yet, but I have read all the praise for New Girl and here's where I stand...
