View Full Version : Worst Cast Additions
Mama's Family-Bubba, the Woody Boyd knockoff
Murphy Brown-Lily Tomlin's character that replaced Miles
NewsRadio-They should've got someone of a higher profile. Lovitz isn't bad, but they could've and should've got someone better.

principehomura 08-29-2011, 01:37 PM I think the worst cast addition ever was Seven in 'Married with children'.

McGillicuddy 09-07-2011, 08:23 AM I can tell you're in love with Ted McGinley. ;)
I don't really have anything against him. I was just alluding to the on-going joke that he's known as the actor that joins series' late in their run! Actually his addition on MWC worked well.
Chamber 09-07-2011, 10:11 AM I disagree about Bubba on Mama's Family. I think he and Iola helped improve the show.
factsoflife 09-07-2011, 10:15 AM Murphy Brown-Lily Tomlin's character that replaced Miles
Yeah, I know that's a common thought, but I actually liked Lily Tomlin as Kay Carter-Shepley.

Happy Days - Ted McGinley
The Love Boat - Ted McGinley

Emmett Clark & Howard Sprague - The Andy Griffith Show
Lou Ann Poovie - Gomer Pyle USMC
marriedaniac 09-09-2011, 04:22 AM Actually his addition on MWC worked well.
I agree. Plus, one can't really put Ted as the reason in regards to MWC, since he was there for 6 and 1/2 of its 11 seasons, when that little turd S*v*n (already mentioned, I see. Good!) showed up for absolutely no reason AT ALL.
70s show watcher 09-09-2011, 05:04 AM Penny Gordon & Carl Dixon - Good Times
Emmett Clark & Howard Sprague - The Andy Griffith Show
Lou Ann Poovie - Gomer Pyle USMCi didnt mind emmett but i did not like howard at all of course i may be the only andy griffith show fan who can only take aunt bea in small doses
megamanj2004 09-09-2011, 03:12 PM The Partridge Family - Ricky
Happy Days - Ted McGinley
The Love Boat - Ted McGinley
Dynasty - Ted McGinley
The John Larroquette Show - Ted McGinley
Married With Children - Ted McGinley
The Love Boat was already starting to sink before he came.
He helped make MWC even more fun for 6 1/2 years and at least he wasn't nowhere near poorly recepted as much as the little booger named Seven was and thankfully Seven was gone after his lone season.
HauntedThunderman94 01-03-2015, 08:56 PM My Wife & Kids - Franklin
Sean Hayes - The Millers
Jennifer Coolidge - Two Broke Girls
Ashton Kutcher - Two And A Half Men
David Spade - 8 Simple Rules
June Lockhart - Petticoat Junction
Dr Charles Winchester - MASH
Nick - Family Ties
All cast additions made, including Ted McGinley, after Ron Howard left - Happy Days
Olivia - The Cosby Show - For Raven-Symone, the beginning of a long and dubious career in TV
Bob Saget, John Stamos, and Dave Coulier - Full House:
They were added in the first episode so that should tell you what I think of them and their stupid show.
Fontaine 01-03-2015, 11:11 PM On Andy Griffith Show, I didn't mind Howard, but I could not stand Emmett or Warren. I also like Andy's girlfriends earlier in the show's run, but I hated Helen Grump.
B.J. Hunnicutt from MASH owns this thread....the most unfunny character ever on a sitcom.
factsoflife 01-03-2015, 11:21 PM Donna Reed on Dallas... no matter how hard she tried, she simply was never going to be Ms. Ellie.
Tubehead 01-04-2015, 12:07 PM family ties nick and Andy

franklin - my wife and kids
sherri shepherd's character on the jamie foxx show
Fontaine 01-04-2015, 08:39 PM I don't know how Randall Carver can be a "worst cast addition" on Taxi....he was an original cast member.
Yong Fang 01-06-2015, 07:22 AM John Denver who played Cousin Oliver on the Brady Bunch.
McGillicuddy 01-06-2015, 01:10 PM John Denver who played Cousin Oliver on the Brady Bunch.
John Denver didn't play Oliver. That was Robbie Rist. And yes he was a bad addition to TBB.
Bonniegirl 01-06-2015, 01:36 PM The monkey on Friends!!!
Mace Dolex 01-06-2015, 02:23 PM Bronson Pinchot doing another accent on Step By Step (I stopped watching seasons earlier but from what I've seen in reruns the show was on life support)
veggie-tari-jenn 01-06-2015, 06:30 PM Carol & Kennedy on Blossom.
DJM77 01-06-2015, 08:07 PM John Denver didn't play Oliver. That was Robbie Rist. And yes he was a bad addition to TBB.
I think Yong Fang was kidding.
FuriosityShell 01-07-2015, 07:03 PM Full House - Nicky and Alex (the little boys who played them looked nothing like Jesse or Rebecca and I could barely understand them most of the time. People give the Olsen twins a lot of unnecessary crap but they're outstanding compared to those little boys)
Diff'rent Strokes - Sam
That '70s Show - Randy
Family Matters - 3J
Married...With Children - Seven
UMFaninMD 01-07-2015, 09:07 PM Designing Women - Alison Sugarbaker
Murphy Brown - McGovern (she was a parody of the conservative MTV VJ Kennedy). Thankfully she didn't last long and she was definitely a product of the early 90's.
Edward216 01-11-2015, 04:52 AM Growing Pains. The homeless runaway Luke played by a teenage Leonardo DiCaprio (The role where most people would've seen him for the first time) he added absolutely nothing to the show, OK so I don't like him anyways but whatever. The youngest of Jason and Maggie's children Chrissy. I had nothing against them having another child but I just didn't really like the actress who played her whose name of course I can't remember right now.
In the later seasons of Newhart when they brought on the brothers Larry, Darryl, and Daryl I couldn't stand them at all. They were all really stupid and pointless.
Ed.
Yong Fang 01-15-2015, 01:31 AM I was. He did look like John Denver's little brother though.
Edward216 01-15-2015, 03:50 AM Or John Denver's son.
Ed.
Gemini_89 03-27-2016, 03:15 AM George Clooney on the Facts of Life. He was useless and only added him because some folks couldn't handle that a man wasn't part of the main cast. Jo was more of a man than he ever was anyway.
