It sounds like Snooki isn’t going to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame anytime soon.

A spokesperson for the Walk of Fame declared yesterday that reality TV personalities are essentially banned from star consideration, posting this announcement on the Walk’s official Facebook page: “Someone asked if we give reality show characters stars? Hell to the No!”

Clearly there’s an irony in answering that question by quoting a phrase first made popular by Whitney Houston on a Bravo reality show. (That would be “Being Bobby Brown.”) But an item in the Hollywood Reporter clarifies further, noting that Ana Martinez, the VP of media relations for the Walk, says that adding reality stars to the mix is “not on our radar right now.”

Some people who are known for their reality work already have stars, like Ryan Seacrest and leading man of “The Osbournes,” Ozzy Osbourne. But the Walk contends they have been honored for other aspects of their career — in Seacrest’s case, radio, and Osbourne’s, music.

Of course that “not on our radar right now” phrasing suggests that the ban on “Real Housewives” and Paris Hiltons could be lifted at some point. Given the criteria one must meet in order to get a star — which include a record of awards in the entertainment industry, philanthropic work, longevity in one’s career and (this is key) a willingness to pay $30,000 for the star’s upkeep — it’s not out of the question that someone who first succeeded in the reality world could someday find his or her name emblazoned on Hollywood Boulevard.

I don't think we'll ever see a reality star being honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. No reality star will ever achieve the longevity requirement!!!

If Jersey Shore ends, Snooki needs to get an acting career. Who wants to be a lame old reality TV star when you have an acting career? An high-profile acting or music career is what gets you a star into the Hollywood walk of Fame.

Well, Paris Hilton has been in some movies. Not that she can act or anything! Who's gonna break the news to her that she can't be on the Walk of Fame?

given that Reality Television is essentially destroying Hollywood, I should think that they would be against giving them any sort of recognition

I remember someone on Home Theater Forum mentioning how there should be an "anti-reality show" movement, much like how there was an "anti-disco" movement.

We should do that at a Yankees Game.

Cleveland forfeited a game for $.05 Beer Night, Chicago White Sox forfeited a game for the Anti-Disco Riot...so why not have it at Yankees Stadium?

I agree with this. Reality stars are NOT stars and I'm tired of them being referred to as such. I do find it odd that they would mention Ozzy Osbourne because he's someone who definitely had a career before reality tv.

too damn right. being famous by appearing on a reality show as a contestant does not equate to being a celebrity.

they're not real stars in many people's eyes unless they worked hard for it.

I remember around the time when Ryan Seacrest first got the Hollywood star that some website was holding a contest rewarding the first person to urinate on his star on camera.

Just the fact that people like Ryan Seacrest have stars on the Walk of Fame and people like Dick York DON'T is infuriating.

I don't think the words Reality and Star should be in the same sentence! I thought that those stars were given for ACTING and not being yourself!

Rightly so! It would cheapen the integrity and image of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Slightly off topic: remember when movie stars were big and ticket prices small, instead of the other way around?

If you must know... his name is Paul DelVecchio.

Before his days on "Jersey Shore" he was a DJ in his hometown Rhode Island under the name DJ Pauly D.

He still DJs today but if you want him at one of your parties his price has skyrocketed.

If I were to give any advice to the Jersey Shore people... Snookie, Situation, Paulie D....whoever, I'd tell then to put the money away that their making, or invest it. You can only hope their "swelled heads" don't keep them from realizing their celebrity isn't going to last forever.

I can't remember what interview it was from but someone suggested that directly to some of the cast members.

They got insulted saying that "they know what to do with their money" and they're actually "smart and savy in the business world".
