What was that? It sounded like a smoke alarm with a battery that was running out.

In season 3, Grandpa sits at the kitchen table, then he says some dialogue and we hear a beeping sound. I want to say it happened in the episode "Katie's College". Not sure, but it was in an episode Grandpa sits in the kitchen and says something to Nell and we hear the beep.

In season 6 the beeping sound happened twice. In "Christmas in New York" Joey goes "Aunt Nell" and then we hear the beep as Nell goes "Hah?" as she walks back into the living room.

Again in season 6, in "Joey The Gambler" at the police station, we hear the beep when the officer talks to Joey about how gambling is wrong.

Any other times in the series did you hear the beep? I think those were the only ones, but there could have been others.

Pardon my ignorance, but are you sure it wasn't a censor beep?

It was a really, really loud and noticeable beep. It happened several times in the series between seasons 3-6. Like when a smoke alarm's battery is dying and it just beeps really loud for like a second. All the dialogue was CLEAR and the beep was not because they said anything that needed to be censored. It just sounded like this loud, annoying beeping sound that lasted a second and made the scene look like crap for that one second.

I am going to have to say that I do not remember any beeping in any episodes. In the first place, two of the episodes that were described were after I stopped watching the show. After the move to New York, I found the show pretty unwatchable! However, now that I have the whole series on DVD, I might watch those three episodes to see if I can notice the beeping.
