View Full Version : Just how much do you all like to watch Unsolved Mysteries?
unidentified 08-25-2011, 08:05 PM As the title states, I am just wondering if anyone watches it as much as I like to...
Every day, for at least a few hours on each occasion.
Watched all of CD's DVD's in chronological order, then reverse, forwards again, then reversed and currently almost finished going through in forwards order again so will soon be reversing again :)
Oh, and now and again I like to throw in a few segments from the officially released DVD's and watch a Farina episode. But prefer Stack like the rest of you.
So how bout the rest o' ya'll, how much do you watch it ?
justins5256 08-25-2011, 08:51 PM Funny you should ask. I decided to watch all the episodes I have in chronological order. I started with the specials last week some time. I just watched special six tonight and finished that about 15 minutes ago. I try to watch one episode a night but admittedly I've missed a couple nights and already foresee some I'll miss due to other TV shows and commitments. Some of the stories I've probably seen hundreds of times on Lifetime over the years, but I still watch them and occasionally notice new things. It doesn't get old. Or at least it hasn't yet.
DarkDante 08-25-2011, 10:21 PM Well I don't watch it every day but I usually don't go two weeks without at least watching one segment. The thing is with this show it was never something I sat down and watched religiously week in and week out. The nineties were a busy time in my life and I didn't have a lot of time to sit down and watch a television show on a weekly basis.
I probably became reacquainted with the show through "Lifetime" (pre-Farina obviously) and probably around five years ago really started to watch the show on a more consistent basis because I had a feeling that "Lifetime" was going to pull the show due to the absurd time slots they were featuring it in. In the end I was right although I didn't expect that "Spike" would pick it up and drastically revamp the series.
I must admit I have never followed the revamp all that much. Sometimes if I'm not doing anything else and the revamp is on I'll put it on and see how they changed this or that but really the revamp holds little appeal for me. In fact in talking with other regular members of this board the general consensus seems to be that if you watched the show as it was hosted by Robert Stack, it's really hard to get into the revamp due to the disparity between the two.
hostedbyrobertstack 08-25-2011, 10:59 PM I currently work out of the house for the most part, so I pretty much have a UM volume in every single day minus the weekends. I find that it is a good background show for working....the cases are short, I don't need to "follow" an entire show, etc... Plus, I have a very short attention span, so I love how it is segmented (sometimes I actually get bored by the end of a 45 minute crime show...mostly due to the court proceedings:)
ernmerica 08-25-2011, 11:17 PM Yep, I don't watch it in any organized way, but I just DVR reruns on Lifetime everyday. It's usually 2 episodes and I catch up on unwatched ones on weekends. Its like Christmas when a segment I haven't seen or remember pops up, but as you could guess that's rare.
Apostapler 08-26-2011, 01:31 AM Nope, not organized, but I have a playlist on my computer that runs when I want to go to sleep during the day (I work nights) and a lot of times at work I will listen to mp3's of the segments. I also occasionally watch the old video tapes.
RobinW 08-26-2011, 09:07 AM I own all the official DVD sets, but hadn't watched the show in years until last summer when I discovered that there were hundreds of segments posted on the forbidden site. It wasn't long before re-acquainting myself with the show and coming to this forum to find out more information and theories about these old cases became a very time-consuming addiction.
Nowadays, I'll frequently go back and watch segments on the DVDs and online whenever on the mood and am always on the lookout for new segments that get posted which I've never seen before.
xxxxmattxxxx69 08-26-2011, 02:19 PM I watch it on the forbidden site even if some of the segments I've seen too many times. No one posts the Charles Southern case or Timothy Combs there though. I occasionally will watch the Farina ones if I see them but not frequently
eurekasjm 08-26-2011, 04:14 PM I love and watch UM so much that I recently converted all of the episodes I own to audio format so I can listen to them on my ipod. I listen to them when I am riding the bus to work, on break, taking walks, relaxing in the sun and as I am falling asleep. I know...a bit much but I really love the show!
crystaldawn 08-26-2011, 07:17 PM I certainly love watching them and it never gets old. I recently catalogued all my dvds in a binder and put papers with quick descriptions attached to every one so I could just look through it quickly and find what I wanted to watch without having to look up my UM list on the computer to find which # dvd. I usually will be thinking of a UM segment I hadn't seen in a while and want to rewatch and usually do so at bedtime.

What can I say...you're my hero....;)
The only thing with watching them before you go to sleep is on many occasions they creep into your dreams. Ever had that happen?

I would wager that if you polled the majority of people on this forum most of them would admit to have had dreams that were influenced by watching UM whether they viewed them just before they went to bed or not.
TheCars1986 08-27-2011, 11:20 AM I tend to watch UM on the forbidden site at least 3 days a week. I'm constantly checking this message board for updates and other information on cases that UM seemed to always leave out.
dks64 08-28-2011, 05:01 PM I go through phases where I'll watch UM for 4 hours a day, 3 days in a row (or something like that). Then I won't watch it for a month or more. I like forgetting some details of the cases, then rewatching them so it's like learning new info :p
