I know this question may be a little personal for some. However I'm curious as to what people pay every month. I pay about 51 dollars a month,and that includes channels like TCM and the Westerns channel etc.,plus a DVR player.I've been told my monthly cable bill is lower than what alot of other folks spend,but the way I see it,I'm still being ripped off because we only watch a few channels.Anyhow I'll probably be cancelling it shortly.

As more and more people are dropping pay tv, you can expect the prices to climb higher. They are just like the phone companies, they try to make up for their losses with their regular customers.

You may be right Mike.It used to be when companies were in trouble they would try to improve themselves in order to keep customers.Nowadays that often is not the case.Pay tv for example can at least cut their losses by becoming more flexible etc.,but they won't even do that.They say to heck with the customers we lost we'll just screw the customers we still have even more.

Too much! :( Heck, basic cable around here that includes channels like CNN, ESPN & MTV costs over $60. I have Comcast and they are pretty high priced. I usually have to get on some type of promotional rate, to not be price gouged. I wish that I could pay for the channels that I want, but then I heard that I would wind up paying even more, since those channels would have less eyeballs and advertising revenue. So, I'm pretty much forced into paying for a bunch of junk channels that show the same few shows, just to get the few channels that I do want. It's a really greedy, selfish model IMO.

If it were up to me we would pay nothing because nothing is really on that interest me too much. We pay quite a bit to DirecTV so my husband can see his sports.
We can't pick up anything with an antenna and there is no cable out here.

The grandchildren watch The Hub and Sprout when they are here and we watch TCM for some movies. Not sure of exact dollar amount but it's around 85.00 a month?

The cable companies nickel-and-dime the crap out of you, especially Comcast, who has a tight grip on the cable market in most of the country. Before I canceled in May, I was being charged an additional $10 for HD (which should come standard in 2011) and $15 for DVR! When all was said and done, I was paying almost $90 a month for cable.

I'm once again in the market for pay TV, but I'm considering Directv this time.

Yeah,I noticed Comcast is all over the place.It seems that a good majority of people who have cable nowadays have Comcast,because it's the only cable available in many areas.And a DVR player should be free or few dollars a month at most,because it's basically just a cable box.

I went to Direct TV from Comcast and now I switched back to Comcast. I couldn't really tell the difference. I couldn't get Antenna TV or RTV on Direct TV either. And since I get the Cowboys most weeks I didn't need the Sunday ticket which is expensive anyway. The only channel I lost really was WGN America and they dropped most of their classic shows. Not to mention, everytime it rained real hard, Direct TV would go out.
