Just do a search under "Mother Daughter Tragedy" on the forbidden video site and you'll find it. It's an old version from before Chandler was discovered to be the killer, so there's no mention of him in the segment.

Actually, I think there is an update on the video on the forbidden site which shows him being taken to police headquarters after he was arrested.
TracyLynnS 10-11-2011, 06:38 AM Looks like Oba Chandler's death warrant has been signed.
Execution date is 11/15/2011
He is 65 years old and killed the Rogers family 22 years ago.

Thank God. This is long overdue. There is a nice spot in hell reserved for Oba Chandler.
RobinW 10-11-2011, 10:27 AM I'm curious... I know that there are quite a few Unsolved Mysteries criminals who are currently on death row, but will Oba Chandler be the first one to actually be executed? While I'm generally not pro-death penalty, I can't think of a better candidate than him.
TracyLynnS 10-11-2011, 11:35 AM Earlier today, I read where some years ago, Oba Chandler said that his final words in the death chamber were going to be, "Kiss my rosy red a*s."
I'll be interested to see if this disgusting piece of trash will chicken out once he's strapped to the gurney, or if he'll really go to meet his maker with those words on his lips.
And there better not be a "stay" in this one. 22 years is already too long to wait for justice.

Thanks for the update. His execution should be the same as his victims.

Completely agree!
Steve W. 10-11-2011, 01:32 PM "Thanks for the update. His execution should be the same as his victims."
I know many believe that it's wrong and does no good/just as cruel, but that's how I feel about all the rapists/murderers, etc. (UM cases and in general) should be executed/killed: the same way they did to their victims. Then they'll get to feel how painful and torturous it is.
Call me cruel or extreme, but if that was actually gone through with those PROVEN guilty, then I think major crime(s) would start to decrease.
Orange_Sody_84 10-11-2011, 04:59 PM The way I see it is this: They didn't care about the people they raped and murdered or injured. so why should we give them that luxary? I mean really... Prisoners get food, shelter, and other privleges. not saying Prison is a cakewalk but meanwhile the victims are dead or traumatised for life. don't get me started on the people who linger on Deathrow for years and years before finally getting their just desserts.
A needle in the arm or other such methods for killing or causing other harm to someone feels like an act of kindess that they don't deserve...

I'm guessing he won't. Don't get me wrong, he deserves to die, but in the link, he almost seems defeated.

That's a good question and I can't think of any off the top of my head. UM's updates were always vague when they mentioned how certain criminals COULD receive the death penalty (like Cheryl Holland or Edward Harold Bell) but there was never any follow up.
I tend to go back and forth on the death penalty but with Oba Chandler, this is overdue.

Upon further research, I guess you could count Angel Maturino Resendiz, "The Railway Killer", who was excuted in 2006. While I've personally never seen it, UM apparently did a segment on a missing woman named Wendy Von Huben, who turned out to be one of his victims.
EDIT: Okay, I guess you can also add Kenneth McDuff to this list as well since Colleen Reed was one of his known victims. However, while Resendiz and McDuff were both serial killers who each murdered over a dozen people, I still believe Oba Chandler may be the first person to be executed exclusively for a crime featured on UM.

I looked up a few cases yesterday, starting chronologically with the UM episodes. I didn't get very far (planning my daughter's wedding shower and not much time to goof off) but I did find some who had died in prison and one was killed by a prison guard in a riot.
Lots of those convicted of murder got Life or Life W/O Parole type sentences, so I'd say there's probably just a few on UM who actually were executed as per their sentence.
It's an interesting subject tho, and I'd like to look into it further when I get the chance.
undertakeress 10-16-2011, 11:50 PM If I were in Florida, I'd do the Ted Bundy execution sign rally outside the prison so he could fry. What a waste of space.
Arnold_OldSchool 10-22-2011, 06:40 AM BTW The "Bodies in the Bay" fictional book based on this case isn't very good at all
Steve W. 10-22-2011, 09:11 AM Is Hal Rogers going to watch the murderer get his due punishment?
diesteldorf 11-13-2011, 08:42 PM Anyone think this will be delayed on any last minute appeal?

I have a candle lit for the Rogers Angels. This creep really needs ta go.

He's set to die tomorrow afternoon, but this article didn't give an exact time. That info is probably available somewhere. Here's a quote from the linked article:
The jury convicted him and sent him to death. After the verdict was read, a juror told the local media: "They need to do this swiftly. The man is a mutation of a human being and he needs to be destroyed."
On Oct. 11, Gov. Rick Scott signed Chandler's death warrant. It is unlikely that Tuesday's execution of Oba Chandler will be postponed, because the Florida Supreme Court has affirmed a lower court decision to go ahead with the lethal injection.
Steve W. 11-15-2011, 01:08 PM Is he dead now?
TracyLynnS 11-15-2011, 01:56 PM Is he dead now?
4:00 pm eastern time, so he has about 3 hours left. I'll go see if it's still on schedule.

He had a modest last meal (under $40) at 11:00 am today.
As of noon today, it's still on schedule.
RobinW 11-15-2011, 06:36 PM In case there was any doubt, it's official now!

While some executed serial killers (Kenneth McDuff, Angel Maturino Resendiz) have murdered victims who were profiled on UM, I believe this marks the first time anyone has been executed exclusively for a crime that was featured on the show. Of course, there are some other UM criminals currently sitting on death row with no execution date in sight.
TracyLynnS 11-15-2011, 07:44 PM "When asked if he had a final statement, he said no."
Well he certainly changed his tune from "kiss my rosy red ass". When given the DP, he arrogantly stated that those would be his last words.
Seems like the more you learn about these violent criminals, it turns out that they're nothing but cowards.
ernmerica 11-15-2011, 10:25 PM What a great day for justice, good riddance Oba.
Hambone2421 11-16-2011, 11:09 AM Good Riddance to him. May he burn in hell.
Steve W. 11-16-2011, 01:34 PM We can't bring back the mother and her two daughters, but (we) can do away with the man responsible for murdering them. I'm glad about that, even though it couldn't possibly be even close to as terrifying of final minute(s) (probably hours actually) as the Rogers' must have felt.
I couldn't get the links to work for me. Did they mention anything about Hal Rogers being there?

He was. He didn't plan on attending the execution, but his niece really wanted to be there, so he took her and they both had front row seats for it:

TracyLynnS 11-16-2011, 02:14 PM Very good article. I'm glad Mr. Rogers was finally able to remarry, and move on as best as can be expected when something his horrible affects your life. Also, the girls' cousin said she was able to find peace now that OC has paid for his crimes.
God bless that family. I feel so terrible for what they've been through for the last 2 decades.

I agree that Oba should have been raped and drowned, just as his victims were. I'm not sure if this would decrease crime though and please note, I only think this sort of punishment should be used in cases where there is absolutely no doubt. I suppose in Oba's case there is some room for doubt, so perhaps this is not applicable using that standard in this particular case, but I am quite certain he was the rapist/murderer.
dynoguy88 07-14-2012, 11:06 AM There's been many old pictures of the Rogers family posted online...

I don't know if this link has been posted before but it shows a couple pictures of the ladies Florida vacation, including a pic they took from their hotel balcony just hours before they met their fate. Pretty haunting...

wiseguy182 11-17-2013, 01:34 AM I just watched the Cold Case Files episode on this, and as you might surmise, it had a lot more info that UM's brief segment on it. Here are some nuggets:
-Believe it or not, Oba was captured, in large part, because of his handwriting. There was handwriting on a piece of Days Inn stationary found in the Rogers car (I think UM may have mentioned that) that was originally thought to be Rogers, but was later found to be of the perp's. Police had even erected a billboard sign pleading for someone to recognize the handwriting and contact authorities. Hundreds of leads surfaced, including Oba's neighbor, who was certain he was guilty. The neighbor eventually obtained a sample of Oba's handwriting and faxed it in, but the fax got lost in the shuffle, largely due to authorities receiving it in poor quality. After a few months passed, the neighbor got restless and wanted to know why nothing had been done about her tip. I really have to admire the neighbor, because her efforts were largely instrumental in getting Oba captured.
-Police had Oba staked out in FL for several days, but just as they were getting ready to make their move, a torrential rain storm hit, and they lost track of him. Oba fled to Kentucky at this time, but authorities caught up with him there.
